well

it was made clear to me by dudley foster parent that there are more potential adopters than dogs.
he told me that it wasnt just first come, first serve. that they try to find a good match.
i appreciate that, however, to further that goal, i think the application form should be a bit less generic.
at the risk of sounding elitist, i responded back with my age, profession, curriculum vitae and approximate income. none of that guarantees that i am the right person for any given dog, but it might get me at least looked at.

i am not a braggadocio by nature but i guess sometimes it becomes necessary.

damn, i forgot to include my credit score...lol
Our first (rescue) dog took us 6 months, and he was just the right guy for us. Be patient! It could be a week, it could be 6 months.

(Besides, maybe they want people who REALLY want an OES, and hang in there for a while to get one ;) )
I realize that you want an oes asap, but do realize that even if you were to get a puppy from a responsible breeder, it could take anywhere from 6 months to a year. We waited 8 months for our puppy.
Where are you located? I've never heard someone complain that the applications weren't involved enough, lol. Usually people get tired filling everything out! What rescue are you working with?
hmmm patience and the instant gratification seeking american....

I don't think it ever hurts to provide as much information as possible when applying for a rescue. If you are turned down you may want to (nicely) ask what the problem was. It may be something you can fix. I don't know much about rescues but I do they they often have requirements (some rquire things like a fenced yard etc). So it helps to know what requirements you must meet ahead of time.

You also might want to expand your search geographically, if you are able to travel any distance you might find a rescue in another state.

Hang in, be patient and keep looking and the right dog will turn up.
That's fine, but what I was interested in was how long during the day the dog would be alone, where would it be kept when you were away, fence height, Where the dog would be when you were home, makeup of the household (males, females, children.......visitors), other animals present, previous dog experience, previous training experience, grooming committment, awareness of the needs of an OES (grooming, socialization, training).
I am located in denver.

I work for myself. perhaps that explains my impatience.
instant gratification? give me a break. i drive a 2002 honda and can afford anything i want ... cash...

i desire a oes rescue for a few reasons
1. i want a sheepdog
2. i dont want a pup
3. rescue would make me feel good.

i am 60 yo. [instant gratification isn't part of my story]

[More civility would be apperciated.
Thanks.

all my dogs (except one who died of cancer) died of old age.
the reason i have been petless for 4 years was because of my extreme sadness when they died (was 14 years of love worth the sadness i felt when they died?)

my dogs were my best friend... my reason to go home at nite... my reason to smile in the morning.

[...snip...]

this will be my last post here...

instant gratification indeed..... hrummmph
