OMG

About 4 days ago I realised I had lost one of my trainer socks...Summer is a devil for stealing them. I searched high and low for it and was hoping she hadn't eaten it. Anyway I have been clearing the garden up and no sign of anything! This morning she was grizzling to go out the garden about 6.30 and then has been sitting happily next to the computer chewing a chew stick. She suddenly started retching and brought up what I thought was a bit of chew stick....it was the sock!! Obviously her stomach is empty, as she hasn't been fed. It was covered in slime and smelt awful! She is Ok but a bit scared....Anyone else dog done this?

:D Yep. Wash it on a high temp
 really or are you just saying it? going to get carpet cleaner out in a mo....
Yes, my Beaureguard is awful about using the laundry hamper as a buffet. If I ever forget to close the door, you can be sure I'll find a pair of underware somewhere within the next few days, either chewed & shredded or reguritated (sp?). It's dangerous and scares the crap out of me and makes me furious with myself for forgetting to close the door.
Bailey did this with a rope toy once. Tore it apart, ate half of it, then two weeks later barfed it back up. I still can't delete that memory, it was truly disgusting.

Fortunately, it was a one time event.
Oliver has done this with rawhides (which is why he isn't allowed to have them). Not only did the rawhide come up, but also about 2 cups of food...all on my feather duvet...
ALL THE TIME as a puppy!

Would never wash and use again though. Goes to the trash, Ick 8O
Tucker eats things like a FIEND. He's eaten a dishcloth, a dress sock, things from the garbage (ew) and most recently the ear of his stuffed puppy. We try to be soooo dililgent - I don't know where he gets them! We don't keep anything smaller than a t-shirt on the floor anymore, and we crate him while we're out of the house so we know he can't get into things. It scares the crap out of me every time it happens becuase I'm so grateful that he DID throw it up and it didn't go through his system and get tangled inside of him.
Um.. yes... I washed mine & it came out smelling sweet again. Shhhh... nobody knows lol
On occasion, I have found some unidentifiable object which was obviously swallowed and then thrown up. It's usually Sherman. But that's not the worst thing we've encountered. Vomit is really nothing.

Warning: graphic description below

My daughter had a similar experience, but on the other end of things when walking Sherman. He needed to poop, was obviously having a problem, with something stuck part in, part out. He kept swinging his butt, trying to dislodge the object, which was flinging bits of poo everywhere, including on Emily, who had no choice but to help pull the object out of poor Sherman. The object turned out to be her favorite panties. Talk about adding insult to injury! She did not try to restore them to wearable conditon. As a side note, she still loves Sherman, but that day, it was somewhat in question.
Sky used to eat socks all the time, she didn't barf them back up though, she'd poop them out. I never knew she had done it til I would find it in the yard... um, re packaged and a different color. Blech. She grew out of it. (I also learned to make sure she didn't have access to socks)

Me too. I don't even know how she gets them, but Nanny has done this on more than one occasion. :?
Charlie keep's steeling my socks constantly!!! She doesnt eat them but throughs them around and torns them in pieces! I cant wear them anymore afterwards cause they dont fit me anymore, they might fit a "Giant"!!!! :excited: :excited: (.. and they got holes tooo!)

... but she does eat all the cuddly toys including what's in in!!! Horrible!!  :?
Luckily none of my dogs have eaten sock. Dirty diapers are a different story.
I would start keeping laundry off the floor, or anywhere Summer can get to it. My cousins Lab would eat socks, underwear....They knew this and were real good about keeping laundry up. Well about 3 months ago, the teenage daughter left out undies and or socks. Toby ate them while everyone was at work. That evening they noticed him panting, lethargic acting. Took him to the vet that night, his organs were already shutting down. Dont know the exact specifics, but even with having them surgically removed, the main organs were already damaged. He was 8 years old and they had to put him down.....Very scary and sad. They felt horrible!
