Lay or fall?

Is Pud the only one out their that prefers to just simply fall over instead of going to all of the trouble to lay down? When we are in the bed and tell Pud to lay down so we can see the tv, he simply leans and falls over (usually on top of you). If we are working on commands he will go down paws first, but on the be forget it. It's just fall. My hubby finds it amusing, he is 6' and weighs 220, I am 5'6" (or so) and only weigh about 115. He doesn't really hurt, but even after a year it can surprise ya.

Hi Betsy,

I think Pud must be talking with Jack and Annabelle. LOL They do the same thing, not everytime, but a lot. If they are getting some good pets on the side they will flop on that side...just fall right down on the floor or couch or bed or yes, on me. 8O Also if they are sitting or standing close they will do the same thing.
Stormi and co.
Oh dear! Albert does this too, especially when it's time for belly rubs!
I always used to laugh, Lee and I would be in bed and about asleep, when you would hear Tyler come into the room circle a few times and then just drop to the floor (hard wood floor). I can tell you as they get older and get stiff, they do get them selves down a little more carefully. Only now that Tyler is 11 1/2 years of age, it seems to take forever for him to lie down. I try to help him get his back end down as slowly and smoothly so it is more comfortable to him, but it is still a slow process.

He is still my dear sweet boy, my Peter Pan dog who will never grow up or grow old, just a little slower with each passing year. Then every once in a while he will surprise you and romp around like he was a pup. Or just look at you with that look of “what are we going to do now mom?” I love him dearly as I am sure you all love yours.

Thanks to this whole community for the advice and the soft place to land when you don’t know where else to turn or whom to ask why?

Harry collapses as well. No turning three times and gently easing one's butt to the floor........he just flops. To his credit, since he has a tail he remembers to tuck it safely before landing.
Hi Betsy,

My baby will only be 4 months old this month. My husband and I laugh every night when we are getting ready for bed, because with Mukwa you hear him walk thump thump thump to the place he is going to laydown no pause then a big thud
Miss Cassie does not do the thud thingy...sometime I wish she would though...she gets on her down quilt & turns around at least 3 times..does some rearranging of the wrinkles with her paws...turns around 3 more times than lays down & usually within 10 min. she rolls onto her back with the bunny leg pose in the front & spread eagle  in the back & nite-nite...what a crazy girlie
Henry's best thud is at mealtimes. He bounces a few times, all 4 feet leave the ground, and then when he is ready to lie down on his bed (where he has to wait for his meal) he bounces one more time and lands in the down position. He lands so hard sometimes I hear the whump as the wind gets knocked out of him.
Ben isn't very graceful at 'landing' either. The best is when he falls and then lets out a big grunt and then a long sigh. What a nut!
Abbi doesn't fall. She's like :

Now Root Beer, the retriever, he just falls like lead if someone is around.
If they bend over, he's on his back in a milisecond expecting a rub. Yet outside he is every bit as dainty as Abbi???? That's a daffy dog. I guess he's alot younger too.
