Are OES lap dogs?

I can't remember if I asked this or not or if someone else did... but are OES lapdogs? Even with full coats?

LOL!
That was the first thing that drew me to choosing Jack. Jack's daddy was in my lap as soon as I sat on the ground to see the 10 puppies. He was a HUGE, loveable sheepie, not quite in full coat, but he was hairy.
I don't think I have met any sheepie yet that hasn't been a lap dog. Jack and Annabelle both in full coats....well, they still have a little longer I think until they are old enough to reach the coat's full length....but they are both lap dogs. If we are on the floor or couch (yes, we allow them on furniture) they will be in our lap. They love my family and my family loves them, they are called grand puppies. They also will sit in their laps and give kisses as well, but they seem to know who they can sit on and who they can't now. I would say this is a sheepie trait, they want to be near you all the time, but ON you is even better in their mind. Maybe then they figure they get a break on herdng. LOL

Oh good! I was so worried with their big fluffy coats that they wouldn't want any loving! I love my Himies but they are definitly not lap cats - I think that they get too hot if they stay too long. Halifax loves following me from room to room and keeping my head warm at night, but not much of a lap cat.

At least the dog and the cats won't be competing for my lap... it will be my doggy's.
Albert won't sit anywhere but my lap!

Excuse how dirty he looks, it was a muddy day!
YES YES YES, they will sit on you any time and place and rest their head in your lap on your hip anywhere! They think they weight 10 pounds! lol
lap dogs, bed dogs, foot dogs (I gotta keep your feet warm, no you can't walk away)....they just want to be near you at all times.
.
You've just gotta love that pic!!!! Big old sheepie, tiny lap! Man, I want mine! Come one house!!!

Karen :)
I would say that it depends on the dog - not all OES are lap dogs! I have found that my males were more lap dogs than the females - has anyone else experienced this???
I've only had males, so....thats all I can talk about.

Pirate is the biggest, baby lap dog in the world!!! Its so funny to see him
squat and back up on to my lap.

What a baby! What a lovie!

Deborah
I guess by their size they are not considered lap dogs...but don`t tell that to a sheepie...they think they are :D ....
Pisco....is a lap dog all the way....he is alowed on furniture  but he won`t go on them unless told he can....he usually want to if me or my hubby are on one....
LMAO!! Mickey is nothing BUT a lap dog.he gets insulted when I tell him DOWN!Usually I just cuddle him like a baby and he gives me the big sheepie kisses!!LOL!! He also sits ON my feet,he also is on my butt when im trying to get house cleaning done.he is a true buddy to me....also i should add my collie is also a lap dog.I think Jagger taught mickey that my lap is totally OK to lay on!!LOL!!altho if Jagger is in my lap 1st mickey has no chance in (you know where!!)of getting on my lap...total brothers!!LOL!!
AlbertsMommy,

I LOVE THE PICTURE!!!! :P Very very cute!

It seems just about all of the sheepies are lapdogs. I thought so, I think it is just a lot in their personality.
I loved hearing about everyone's furry lap friend.

It is SO hard trying to get to the keyboard through all that fur. :D
Tanya! You have a built in (or should I say 2 built in) foot and lap warmer for those cold MN days! Go Mickey and Jagger, way to keep mom warm

Try driving a small 5 speed pickup with one on your lap....
Both of my girls love to cuddle, and will plop themselves down right on you.... it is so cute and funny, they just want to be as close as possible.
I let mine on the furniture too, LOL
Merlin will only sit on you if you are sitting on the floor! It is so funny, the kids will be sitting on the floor playing and here comes Merlin to sit right on one of them!
He wont come on the furniture unless invited. Every night daddy tells Merlin to come on up and then Merlin will jump on the couch and just PLOP himself down. Aint nothing graceful about my boy! When I am on the computer or watching tv he lays on my feet-(cant sneak anywhere without him) he is truly a VELCRO dog! LOL He even follows me in the bathroom!
Oh yeah, 85 pounds and bony elbows of lap puppy. When he wants a tummy rub, I sit on the floor and Henry burrows his head in my lap, then drops one shoulder down still finding the perfect spot for his head in my lap, and finally drops his butt down. When he wants a butt scratch, he just backs into me and sits on top of me. Henry understands that lots of repetition, positive rewards (kisses) and patience have resulted in a well-trained upright.
LOL, Henry's mom, they do have us VERY well trained.

Lap Dogs, Bed Dogs, Chair Dogs... And I forgot, Front Passenger Seat Dogs!

Our doggies love to chill on the bed in the mornings to keep us company, they look for the perfect spot and then plop on the bed to let us know they don't like to be left alone all night in their beds (We close our room's door), and god forbid if one of us gets up and the other stays in bed once the furries got in the room!!

About getting on the furniture... How do you think Sofa got her new name? Isn't it great when they jump on your lap once you get confy in the sofa to watch TV?
And kitchen table dogs!
I have walked into the kitchen 3 times now to find Sky standing right on top of the kitchen table, and she doesn't rush to get down or anything, nooooo, she just stands there and wiggles her butt and looks at me like "What??"

That is so funny! My dauchshund used to do that too... God only knows how he got up there...
Lol...sheepies are sheepies ....I guess it comes in the breed.....
Pisco has to put his head on my feet if I am sitting down, but if I am in bed (regular these days...LOL) he puts his head on the side of the bed and looks at me with such eyes that I always let him on the bed with me....and if my hubby is in bed as well Pisco just cuddles in the middle...looks at me and does this grunting sound of happiness...then looks at my hubby and does the same....and forget it if mom and dad are kissing :? LOL ....he has to kiss us too...so we alway end up in a three way kiss....LOL
Remy is definitely a velcro dog, but we try and keep her off the furinture. That is the only safe place for the kids sometimes. LOL

If I'm on the floor then she makes a pretty good blanket. She will not stay more than 2 incehes from unless the cat walks by...she has to take care of that. Then comes back to me. She won't even eat her food unless I hang out with her.
When we got our cat many years ago our Dudley stuck his nose in the cat carrier and got a smack on his snoot a hiss and spit in the face, it was after that he avoided all carriers. At the vet's office one time the floor was covered with these carriers and Dudley put a paw on my husband's should then the other paw and a leg on each thigh and he squeezed my husband with his paws around his neck. I leaned over to Dudley and said it is ok puppy we will be home soon. A lady asked me how old is your puppy and with a red face I said 10 years!!!!!!

I love sharing these stories my Dudley and Oliver have left their paw prints on my heart!
this sounds familiar....

Halifax and Kiley are the same way! I have to sit and watch them eat - or they follow me out the door. It's very difficult to do that when they are on an all wet diet... but it's good for them... so I must endure.
