Daycare Pays up! (Jasper)
So the news I've been dying to tell, just fresh off the press today - the daycare owner paid his vet bills in full. $5010. I was in shock. He kept promising and promising, and then nothing. I finally did find a really good attorney named Geordie Duckler (http://www.animallawpractice.com/) that specializes in animal law on the west coast (very interesting specialty defending animals). I spoke to him last week and his advice was just to write yet another letter, including a particular statute quoted in it, send it certified and this time give him a deadline or "else." The else being probably the "people's court." Not really worth it to pursue in circuit court, but he thought I'd have a good case for small claims - only problem is enforcing the judgement after the fact if I won - so still not a sure thing. Was not looking forward to that and was about to give up hope - honestly just happy to have my dog back. I did not get to writing another letter, but yesterday got the notice that someone sent me a certified letter and I didn't even look at it til today. So anyway, I accepted and released him (by signing and cashing) from further responsibility, so all is settled. I had a feeling things would resolve, just wasn't sure when. So this is a fantastic and a very happy end for us both. Jasper got some gourmet treats and a toy today =) . We had great weather here today and I took him for a very long walk. I'm still not brave enough to go to the dog park by campus though. Will figure out a way to socialize him at some point hopefully. I am uploading his new pics now....He has found the fountain of youth - his fur is growing back BLACK...how bizarre is that. I bet it will go back to gray eventually but for now the baldest areas are jet black. Hugs to all the co-sheepies & families here, Jane and Jasper |

| I am so glad to hear the bills are paid. That's fantastic.
I was going to mention to you about the new hair that will grow in black...anywhere Winston's been cut ever on the gray the new hair grows in black. He's an elderly gent now and completely silver, except this little spot on one side where he got cut by a burr a couple months ago - and it's shiny black right there. Puppy fur all over again. When my husband saw Jasper's pictures, we were talking about that, and he said, "He's going to look like a dalmatian when those black spots come in!"

| Yes it's a little freakish - every single puncture wound has a black polka dot too. forgot to say that. It's a horrible reminder for me, but nobody else knows...I wonder if it will go back to silver eventually? |
| Yes, it will change to silver again - or at least Winston's have over the years. He's had a few different cuts - barbed wire, snagged on a tree, something random we never figured out - they all were black for a while then changed just like when they go from puppy to adult. I couldn't tell by looking now where the old cuts were. (But, he is almost 12 years old!) |
| Yeah, wounds come back black. If I think long and hard I could come up with a chemical reason, but let's not tax my old brain. My Harry is the Wound King.....in fact he's back in his t-shirt having tore open his shoulder again.....sigh. Good thing he is black to start.

The black spots should turn eventually but they don't always. Tasker has skin alllergies and every year gets a few hot spots. The hair comes back black and most have turned grey. I have noticed a few of the black spots in the worst areas have never gone back to grey. It give him a multi colored appearance. |
| Hooray!!! Jasper looks fantastic and I am so glad the place paid the bills. That is such a relief. Will Jasper need any more treatments/surgeries or is he completely on the mend? How is his attitude? His pictures look like a mix of serious and playful. |
| He only has a minor ear infection now which is going away after changing meds to something new.
He's looking serious because of that raw hide in his mouth. Also we just got back from a walk and he was pooped. His salivary gland lump went down just a week ago - all of the sudden it just disappeared. It was really weird. The duct must have opened up to drain the fluid. He's totally fine though and as friendly as ever at home and outside with people and other dogs we meet on the walking path. Jane |
I am so happy that everything has worked out for you guys. Jasper looks wonderful. Looking at the pics, it's amazing to see how far he has come. That's so awesome. Jane, I know you've been through so much and I am glad Jasper is improving so wonderfully. You are truly a special person and Jasper is lucky to have you in his life.  |

Now it is greying in, but there are still areas where it is darker. |

So happy to hear that that's another stressful situation out of the way, regarding daycare owner paying. As for Japser, he looks wonderful!!! Nicole cute pic of Dixie - what a sweet face she has. I had the experience with both Panda and Merlin regarding black fur where previous trauma occurred. Those areas are no longer visible. Give Jasper a big kiss on the nose for me and a belly rub! | That is amazing. At least you are in the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm sure it isn't over cause Jasper will want/need some extra TLC but you no longer have to look to the end of the tunnel...you're in it! |
