So he's buying a new truck for himself...a very macho one, a Toyota FJ Cruiser...and of course trading the Waggin' Wagon. Sigh...I'm really sad. I know that is silly, but its a great vehicle and has a special place in my heart. I dread telling the dogs they will be riding in such a manly vehicle. The baby and princess will be upset! He said I could keep it, and trade my new car, the Solara, but NO! THAT'S MY CAR! Ok...just wanted to vent! Thanks |

I had to look up the Toyota - wow, that is cool.
I would ditch the minivan in a heartbeat! It looks like it will still be easy enough for the dogs to get into, and have enough room. I was getting scared when you said truck - in my mind that is a pickup! I was having visions of 3 dogs piling in your solara because a pickup would never work...although I have done it in Todd's! Mine hate Todd's truck -- it is a big Dodge Ram 4x4 pickup, with huge mudder tires. It is so tall, I need to help the dogs in and out. The huge nubby tires make the ride so rough that we all are carsick.... I say embrace the new SUV!!! |
Tony's getting the Tonka Truck Whenever I see one it always looks like a toy
I think Pirate will love riding around in that. |
Yes, it will accomidate the pups nicely. He's excited because (believe or not, and it is done well) it doesn't have any carpet, and has heavy duty waterproof upholstry. It is definately a man's vehicle. Very Hummer-esque. But I think its sad the waggin' wagon is going. Yep...Pirate will feel like a tough guy in it! He and Tony can get their testosterone fix in it Amanda...it does look like a toy. It's very retro. I guess its a remake of the Land Cruiser they built in the 60's for off roading. Great, just (blankety) great |
I love the FJ Cruiser but not for the dogs. Then again, mine are huge. It's not as big back there as you'd think it would be with the seats down (not great headroom for a tall dog) and when you fold the seats down, the backs are plastic and very slippery. Definitely get a big rubber mat if you're gonna do a lot of transporting. I wanted to get one really bad but the Element just worked so much better as a dog car. Have fun with it though, it's really cool! |
They are pretty cool looking vehicles. I've never driven or ridden in one, but it doesn look like a manly man's SUV. The boys will love it. The girls will fit in your Solara. |
I love the FJ cruiser - but the dealer told me the new RAV had more room for the dogs - I am still driving the old RAV |
My son has the new RAV and loves it! My husband always goes for the unusual (he married me, didn't he?) so the FJ really suits him. |
ha ha ha--shaggin waggon...I got a whole other image of what it was used for! |
My Highlander has plenty of room for the dogs if we're just going around town. But, I like the way the Element is made lower to the ground for easier loading and the way the seats come out for more room if I needed to pack luggage & dog stuff, too for a trip. If I trade dog vehicles, it'll be for the Element. (Although, Robbie thinks it's ugly and says I can't drive it to his house during the daylight. ). |
The Shaggin' Wagon was perfect for the dogs. The seat went in and out, and had all sorts of different configurations. It was easy for them to hop into. (Sigh....) It was perfect. Unfortunetly...it was also perfect for a soccer mom and her team |

Tammy, that sounds just like Todd. LeAnne and I road tripped to a show with my Element and the dogs, and loved it. Todd was still skeptical. A month later he and I went to Bassetfest - our big fundraiser for our basset rescue, and a 7 hr drive from home. We camped, so we had Simon, a foster basset, all our tenting/camping gear for a week. As soon as he had driven it a few miles, he was saying "it handles nice." At the first gas stop he was saying "wow, good mileage". As we loaded stuff in and out for camping and he saw how handy the flooring, seating and all the extra height it has, he was finally convinced! I still get a few comments about his looks......but - our nephew got one, and he is overheard telling the nephew's parents - "they are awesome vehicles, he will really like it!" |
Sorry the Shaggin Wagon is gone.
I said I would NEVER own a Minivan, but my Dad gave us his. It is NOT my car, it's Billy's and will be used for work.... also for Sheepie Transportation. My Honda CR-V is too small to accomodate me the kids and the dogs. So every once in a while I will be driving the Minivan..... but I assure you, it is not mine and I do not own it. Congrats to Tony on the new ride. |
Hi,
Congrats to your hubby on his new manly vehicle! Gotta admit I drive a mini van and have no kids at home. It's got extra stuff put on and looks like a low rider so is considered cool by teens. Serves as my dog mobile and I love it! A window seat for each one! I also use it to transport cages, bunnies, dogs, cats, bales of hale, crates..and it's packed with first aid stuff in case I come across any injured critters. A mere car just wouldn't do. LOL Love to have an SUV but a car would be out of the question for me. I get great discounts at vets during innoculation times if I bring cats/dogs at the same time. Do you think you'll have a chance to drive the manly vehicle occasionally? I have to admit I thought you were talking about another purpose too..when the word shag was mentioned. It's all that movies fault! Yeah baby! Marianne |
I cannot comment on the title of this as it brings memories of a tiny little itty bitty Plymouth Horizon to mind.
That said, I remember when they took our first new car away. Joan put 256,000 miles on that '88, and it was still going strong when we parked it for a year (which of course destroyed the brakes, radiator and muffler). I hope someone got good use of it! |
If this van's a'rockin don't come a'knockin. That's what I always thought when I saw the phrase "Shaggin' Wagon."
Tony just wanted a truck to prove that he is a curmudgeon His cover was blown when he said Lizzie was his. |
Ok..and to top that, he called her "his valentine" this morning. Oh gag me! |

Oh gag me! LOL!!! Todd is almost as bad with his coonhound Maggie. Goes on and on about how she has turned out so well-"don't you think she has turned out well?", "she is such a great dog", etc..... She goes in and lays on the bed when he goes to bed (way earlier than me), follows him all around the house, reaches up and rings her bell (on a her hunting collar - hangs on a hook about 5 feet in the air!) when he gets ready to go somewhere! She really is a hoot, and I'm glad he has a dog that totally loves him best. Man - but "his valentine??" LOL He really is hooked! |
You gotta love a man who thinks of his dog as his valentine. |
