| this has just happened to two of our computers... we had to dump both of them and reload.... hrs of work. Glad my hub can do it..... WITH lots of complaining. And it always happen after the kids download lime wire. |
Do a search on the virus name. You may be able to find a removal tool for it. Good Luck!! I had a Trojan Horse attack last night.  |
| You have my sympathy.
I had Norton Antivirus on my computer and do a weekly scan. Last week after the scan I was notified that it had removed a virus. Subsequently I called Norton for advice about upgrading to a current version that would also detect and remove spyware. We agreed on Norton 360 but first they did a complete disk cleanup and did discover some spyware which they removed. My first call was at 11am. They began installing 360 at 3pm. At 9pm they were still trying to complete the installation. I requested to speak to the supervisor (by now I was pretty frustrated with the mess) He agreed to reinstall the old software and extend its expiration date for 7 months to compensate for the aggravation. Fine but that still didn't solve the problem about spyware. So finally after a couple of days I decided to go with norton's 2008 version of the software. Now I find out that everything is running slower as norton apparently is constantly checking things out. |

| All great suggestions, the process for removal varies from virus to virus and if you have spyware then that makes it worse.....the best fix as mentioned above is a total restore of the system, not to be confused with microsofts restore points (if thats not disabled it will actually make it worse in some cases. )
If you still need assistance feel free to pm me. I work in the IS field might be able to point you to some solutions, but it can be a long painful process as mentioned above. Also any form of file sharing is a gateway for viruses ....just like email, you need to be able to trust your source, Ask yourself would I give my phone number or address to the person I am getting this file from? if the answer is no, then I would not suggest down loading it. |
