Harry has 2 lumps on his neck...
We've had our new pup Harry for over a weel now and things have been going great until today. I was stroking his neck and felt two lumps, one larger and more swollen feeling and one small one right next to it (they may be attached, I can't feel exactly). They're not hurting him or itchy or anything but that is just making me more worried. My husband says not to worry and it's probably as a result of the injection he had last week (1st set of immunisations) and it was in pretty much the same place. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of anything like this? We have a vet's appt in a couple of hours so will update then. If anyone has any response before then to stop me panicking, I'd greatly appreciate it... thanks  |

| It could be a localized reaction to his immunizations. It could also be bug bites or swollen glands. I wouldn't worry too much - unless he's showing other symptoms of concern. The Vet will be able to reassure you that everything is okay!

| I am so relieved! It was, as you suggested, a reaction to the injection. The vet said not to worry at all, it is perfectly common...thank you so much for posting, it did calm me down!

That's exactly why vets around here don't do them in that area anymore, they chose the back end, above the hips. The shoulder and neck area is a common place for vaccine related sarcomas to develop. Not to worry you, it will probably go away and be fine, but if it doesn't I would get back to the vet.  |
That would make more sense, injecting them in an area where they won't get a reaction...I'm in Scotland though and we're a bit backwards here!!!  (only kidding in case anyone else is too!!)
...will mention to the vet when he goes for his 2nd set of immunisations that I would prefer it if he could be injected above the hips. thanks again, gill |
