Todd has never met them - he loved it that Doug has a mullet!! James loved the mullet, too. I love that I've pulled James into the world of OES nerddom along with me. He left the room to grab a soda during the Johnson's segment and he came back, gave me a dirty look and rewound it. He was like "I expected you to pause it to wait for me so I could see the sheepdogs," as if I had seriously wronged him by not waiting for him. He wants us to get a Bugaboo dog based solely on the fact that all of the dogs they showed of the Johnson's could jump, lol. |
Very cool. I got annoyed about 15 minutes in and turned the show off. If I knew that I had a reason to watch it, I'd have hung around!
And if James wants a dog that can jump so badly, I'll send him Toby! Don't let the National video fool you, that kid has springs for legs. |
It was a great segment. I went to sleep before Best of Show, TVO'd it a and will watch it later. I was annoyed that there were two podles in BOS...... |
Plus they had about 2 seconds of footage of the "Meet the Breeds" Booths. Enough time to see Dick dressed up as Captain Hook and a little girl petting "Nana". |
I saw it! It was fun to have a segment on OES. Loved the mullet. Also loved the bounciness of the OES. Cam was like I didn't know OES could jump! (Barney prefers to keep all 4 paws on terra firma). And the dog that was on its hind legs making out with Mrs Johnson cracked me up... |
The person handling the Chesapeak Bay Retriever is Heather, Colton's wife. Colton is Smokin's guy! |
They are very nice people and much deserved. I hadn't seen them in awhile, Doug is looking more and more like his sheepies now that his hair is getting grey and white.
The live outside of Colorado Springs, obviously in the woods. Nice. |
They're not just very nice, they are probably some of the nicest people you will ever, ever meet!!! |
Mandy,
Remember when Doug came over to you at westminster? He thanked me for the work I do for rescue..........I was humbled. He also offered to help groom Guinness at the Nationals in VA when we were there. He is indeed one of the nicest people ever!! I would love one of his dogs............sigh Cindy |
See! That whole family is absolutely awesome! I asked them one day if I changed my name to Mandyanne if they would adopt me! |

How funny - I missed the Johnon's segment but thanks to the DVR watched it yesterday. My husband came by - made a face (he thinks the dogs are spoiled), but kept watching. At one point he said - so they all jump and bounce!?! Of course ours only do it occassionally and I suspect the ones in the Johnson's piece were hamming it up for the cameras. |

Bouncing might be because they share their lives with Bouncing Bouviers Both of my sheepdogs bounce & body slam. Frank is a knucklehead when it comes to jumping & bouncing. It's something I've been unsuccessfully trying to break him of since he was a pup. If I got rid on that one bad behavior he would be a perfect dog. |
The lady I adopted Tyler from all those years ago, decided to get an OES puppy. After all her research she decided on a breeder and a pup. Her pup Channing is from a breeding out of Smokin. I have traveled twice with Karen and Channing to a show in Southern California for the So Cal OES Rescue Parade at the Burbank Dog Show. This little girl is the sweetest little thing and Karen has begun to show her. Karen was also lucky enough to have her at Eukenuba when Colton was there and he got a chance to see Channing. He had nothing but good to say about her! They are a wonderful example of good breeders and good representatives of the breed.
I have some photos of Channing on the grooming table, when I get a chance to share some of them I will be happy to. |
okay; i got to see this segment last night with my boyfriend. He'd never seen the full grown frolicking sheepdog, and I can't tell if he was delighted or horrified. I wish this segment was available on Youtube |
