My hubby was away on business, so Drez was home alone all day. When I walked in the house after work, she wasn't at the back door. I called her - no answer. I looked in the family room, the living room, the dining room - no Drez. I looked in the garage, thinking maybe she went out there when my son retrieved something before he left for work that morning, and he didn't realize she was in there. I called her again - still no answer. Started to panic - she couldn't POSSIBLY have made it up all the stairs by herself, could she? So I ran upstairs and checked all the bedrooms - still no Drez. By now I was beside myself, yelling her name through the house. Then I walked into the kitchen and looked around the corner into the dinette - and there she was, looking so unhappy and embarrassed. Somehow she had gotten herself under one of the table chairs - and I mean TOTALLY under the chair. The back chair legs were straddling her back, her right front leg was sticking out between the front and back chair legs, her left front leg was sticking out between the two front chair legs, and her head was resting on the foot rest bar! Since she's not quite totally mobile yet from her surgery, so she couldn't get herself out! So maybe she doesn't need a crate - maybe a plain old kitchen chair will do! Whadya think? Chris |

I bet you were scared! I would have been so worried looking everywhere. I am glad she was safe, you had me on the edge of my seat.
She has been through a lot, and she still has all of us smiling through her sheepie antics, you can't beat that. Give Drezzie a big sheepie hug, and tell her I said to steer clear of those dangerous kitchen chairs. LOL Stormi and co. |
oh gosh! I am glad she is ok! I went through that with my kittens so I know exactly how you felt! Oy! |
I wish they would whimper or bark! My husband accidently caught Crumpet in the closet. When I realized she wasn't around I too began to panic...... .......fortunately she softly whimpered and my extraordinary hearing heard her. My husband was standing not ten feet from the closet and couldn't hear her, I was at the other end of the house.
Even today when I call them in, I'd appreciate an acknowledgement! "I'm coming!!!" |
Motherly instinct?
I hear Albert's every little sound. When I'm in the den, I'll randomly shout "no no" and whoever is in there with me will look at me funny, until Albert comes running in there from playing in trash... |
Sheepieboss and Albertsmommy,
I loved your stories, I have the excellent hearing in the family too, my husband couldn't hear anything, same thing when he is asleep. The house could fall down around him and he would still be sound asleep. Albert sounds like a typical sheepie kid trying to get away with raiding the trash, my 2 are good at sneaking around for it too. LOL |
I can hear Drez, too, no matter where I am in the house. Have already heard her raid the kitchen garbage can while I was in the basement. Problem this time was that she was as still as a stone - not a whimper, not a shuffle, nothing. Just like she does when she does something bad in the house - she just hides and keeps VERY still and quiet until she's found. The look on her face was priceless, so sad - like, "Mommy, I can't get out. Help me!"
These dogs have "the look" down to a science, I'm convinced! You can NEVER stay mad at them! Chris |
