You HAVE TO double this if you try it. What makes these the best is: THEY ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES. Yay. 3 ingred: 20 square/grid shaped pretzels (called snaps) or you can use the circle kind 20 rolos or caramel milk chocolate doves (depends on if you want creamier or really what you can find at the store 20 pecan halves oven 300 line all the pretzels on cookie sheet. i brushed melted butter on them and baked for 10 minutes. toasting these first makes a huge difference! when they come out, turn the oven to 325. while they cool (takes just a few minutes), get out your chocolates and begin unwrapping them. then just place them on top of the pretzel. bake for 2-3 minutes. ANYTHING LONGER, and you've messed it up and caramel will come out! You know they're finished when the tops of the chocolate look shiny. take out and gently place a pecan on. i barely pressed. stick in fridge for 30 min to and do your best not to eat them before they set!! never buying turtles again! |

YEAH! JO's back in the kitchen!! Husband has to have his daily slice of cinnamon bread to take to work (i've started adding walnuts to the recipe) .............do I dare make these? |
Oh gosh! I'm afraid to make these as I'd eat them all in one sitting |
Wow Jo! THOSE LOOK SO GOOD! Plz have a couple for me! I can see it being hard to stop at 10. lol |
OH YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM |
You are so talking my language now!!!! |
Quote: I just had 10 and forced myself to stop because I realize that's probably a lot to my mom who only had 3.
Sounds like something I would do! They look fabulous! I will have to give them a try. |
These are GREAT!!! I made them yesterday-- and they are ALL gone. We had a little help-- but mostly John and I wolfed them down
They are added to my Holiday-- special occasion treat list. And- my " I just want to pig out today" list!!! Thanks for sharing! |
Awesome!! They are so addicting esp when left in the fridge (how i like chocolate)
I went to the store to buy a bag of rolos and doves the other day to keep a supply going in the house. |
I had to come up with a quick "something" for a couple of SB party's yesterday. I had just about an hours notice, so I made a couple tray's of the turtles. I left off the pecan on 1/4 of the batch for folks that can't eat nuts.
Obviously they were a hit as all I brought home were empty plates. |
YAY!! The ones I made the other day with Rolo's... when all was "set" from being in the fridge, I melted some white chocolate, put it in a ziplock bag, cut off the corner and drizzled a cute wiggly line over each one for a "fancier" look.
BTW, I fit 59 on one big cookie sheet, so I get so many done at once! |
Oh no, I feel my fat cells getting excited ! |
I got the stuff bought to make these. I need them next weekend for a potluck at the weight pull/ sled dog race we are in. Maybe I can butter up the judges??!
I am afraid to make them too early - there may be none left to take. I love chocolate, and turtles are Todd's favorite. |
I bought everything I need to make your recipe. If they turn out I want to take them to obedience class and give everyone a treat. Thank you. Question-Do you toast the pecans first? |
edit: I'm an idiot. I read pretzels. You said pecans... No, you don't.
actually after re-reading my original post... it's wrong you bake the pecan at 325, but melt the chocolate (the next step) at 300. i have the temperatures mixed up. Maybe that can be changed in case others read it?? anyway, dove chocolates are the best!! |
Thanks for the update. I have all my ingredients and have them ready to make on Thursday! |
