Hello and Welcome Back!
There is actually an OES Rescue in the South East (OES RESCUE NETWORK) and I am sure that they'd be happy to have some help in North Carolina! You can contact them at www.oesrescuenetwork.org! Kristen |

Hi Kristen, I tried the link and it didn't work due to your exclamation point. I was just fixing it for you. www.oesrescuenetwork.org Lucy/Thumper, your enthusiasm is wonderful! They rescue will be thrilled to have you. Good luck, Stormi and co. |
I tried to email them and I needed to set up a email account and needed to enter in my outgoing/ingoing configuration. What is that and how do I found that out. I need to set it up before they will accept emails.

Hi Lucy,
Here are the emails for a couple of the officers for OESRNSE. They're very nice folks and just LOVE volunteers! I'm sure any of them will be more than willing to help you help them! : ) Carol, email president@oesrescuenetwork.org Ingrid, email vp@oesrescuenetwork.org Sue, email secretary@oesrescuenetwork.org If you don't have an email set up like Outlook Express and you come across a page with the "click on" email addresses, you can just click, highlight, copy and paste the addresses into whatever email program you are using. Good luck 'putering! Cathy |
Thanks!! I will do that! I guess I am just an idiot! |
OH, I think NOT!! LOL!! I've gone through waaaay too many 'puter crashes and for some reason they think we can just whip in there and fix that email thingy (technical term!) ourselves...I haven't been able to figure it out yet....so if YOU'RE and Idiot, then I'm in the same club with you!! : ) LOL!!
Cathy and the clowndogs |
Thank you Cathy. I did as you suggested and I already rescued a dog from south carolina. He is at my house now. I would like to adopt him out but Lucy is in love? Ok... How do I know that I can do this? There is only so much room in my house? |
You're really asking a tough question to a person who would tried to keep every one that came through her door!! LOL! I set a limit and had to stick to it.... (my husband was really good at counting sheepdog heads when he came home, too!!!) I look at it a couple of different ways....
One way is to ask what can you do that is the most helpful? Right now fostering is a HUGE help and tempting as it may be, if you keep them all you'll soon run out of room and not be able to foster I also truly believe that the "right" one or two or 5 is/are out there for everyone and you'll know when you have one that is meant to be. In the meantime, think of the family that may have been on a waiting list for a long, long time and think of what a GREAT home the sheepdog will be getting! No matter how you think, it's always a heartbreak when they leave, but when you get new pictures from the new family....you know you've done the right thing. Fostering is so important. It's great to have the sheepdog in a family environment for a while before adopting them out. You get to notice all the "quirks" and problems that may need to be worked on...then the Adoptive family knows FULLY what the problems may be and adopt with a full understanding. When they're adopted out, with or without baggage, you know it's for good and they are in their forever home. It's really hard to foster and even harder to give them up....You'll know in your heart what's best! Take care and if you have a chance...take a peek at the "about us" page on my website and you'll see a picture of all the guys that have lived with us over the years....then think of all those happy families and WHAT would have happened if I kept them all!! LOL!! Cathy |
Thanks Cathy you are so right. He deserves a good home. He has that look in his eyes that is empty. There is no sparkle. You know what I mean. It is heartbreaking. |
Hi Tell us all about Lucy's new playmate! You are such a dear to take him/her in to you home. What's his/her story? |
Hi,
It is heartbreaking, but man oh man it does your heart good when they are placed with a loving family and that "look" changes to love and trust. Did you contact Ingrid Thompson? She's the OESRNSE placement director and VP and has all the adoption applications that have come in to the group. She's great to work with and I'm sure she'd be able to find a great home....bet she has someone just waiting for the opportunity! (all paws in this house are crossed!) I think I posted her email in a previous post...if I didn't holler and I'll post it again. There's a special place in heaven for people like you! Take care and give lots of hugs to your furbabies from me and mine! Cathy |
Did anybody mention NEOESR? They are in New England.

Please have OES REscue Network (or NEOESR) involved in his placement (if you decide not to keep him!). It's so difficult to find the right home - and they've been through it so many times - they know what to look for (and when there's a red flag) and ensure the best home for him! Too many self placements have ended badly- you would like to think you can trust people - but unfortunately you can't! Potential homes should have to fill out an appication, have references, home visits, and a contract. Placement is very involved - I'm sure they'll be happy to help you! They may also then be able to help with any medical care, neutering costs, etc. Congrats on earning your Rescue Wings! Kristen |
I posted all the contact information for OESRNSE as NC is one of the states in their coverage area. (complete with website and email addresses.) If I'm not mistaken, she's contacted Ingrid Thompson? Did I miss something? I thought I read it was someone looking for help in placing this OES and volunteering to be a foster home in NC? If I misunderstood the posting, my apologies.
Cathy |
Sorry I didn't get the email stating that there were replys. So yes I am working with OESRNSE. I am fostering NIkki for them. Ingrid and I are working together to place this little boy. It is a great group and if anyone is interested in fostering or volunteering please give us a call! |
Hi, I thought you were working with Ingrid, but when I read this:
