this was so touching to read

The site above is a write up of the dogs from the Michael Vick ordeal from last year. Amazingly, a large number of the dogs have lived and are doing very well in new homes and rehabilitation units. It brought tears to my eyes that these sweet creatures were given a second chance to show their true doggy natures and that after such damage and trauma they really are proving themselves to be what we know and love of dogs

So sad. I can't hwlp but wonder though if those dogs can ever be totally rehabilitated. I would be very concerned about trusting then. Poor pups.
I can only hope it works out with those pups. It's not easy to rehabilitate dogs!
I am happy that several of these dogs have been given a second chance however, I would never be able to fully trust one given the horrible training and life they have endured. I would not bring a dog with this history into my home with my grandchildren visiting or with Chauncey.
It may be different if it were only Bob & I.

I'm with you 100% except the last line. My dog has escaped the house by accident, would you be willing to be responsible for the mauling of one of your neighbor's dogs?

I'd have to guess the odds of that happening over the course of 12 years would be pretty good. Not to mention (but I will) the risk to yourselves if he is sick or hurting and snaps at you -- and won't let go.
Point well taken. It's a shame that Vick gets off with basically a slap of the hand ( or maybe 2, we'll see what VA decides to do ) and the dogs get a death sentence.
