I am available any day of the week and don't mind travelling! Should we wait for the weather to get a bit better or has anyone got any ideas for an undercover space to meet if the weather is bad? Lets do it SOON!!! |
|
Yes lets do it!!!!
Could be the waterpark again!!! I don't mind.. But it would have to be a day in the week. because it gets busy at weekends. And I went there yesterday its a bit wet and muddy tho at the moment lol lol But i don't mind travelling if anyone knows anywhere else that would good for the sheepies... |
I'm not in the UK, but I'm voting for late September since I should be over that way with my niece about that time. |
I don't know if I can wait until September but perhaps we should have two meets this year?? One early on and then another in September? I thought the Water Park was a great venue and I'd be happy to go there again but I know Vicki's George wasn't too happy after the drive so I don't know if there's somewhere closer for them? Sandringham is really nice but that's probably just as far for Vicki!
We could always try to link it up with my charity ball on May 24th so you can all come to that too this year but then we'd need a lot of 'doggy sitters' for the Saturday night! Wherever we have it - I can't wait |
keep trying to find somewhere. how many UKers are there? |
Yeh Sheepie Day 2!
I think we should have 2 this year. One in June and then one when Tammy is over in September so she can meet the UK sheepies! I don't mind where it is. If everyone is happy to go to the water park again then we should have it there. George was only a baby the last time (6 months) and everything scared him (not that he is much better now ) Lets pick a date and go from there |
Hooray!! We can't wait for this! JUNE??? Thats a looooong way off.
I think March or April- and definately again when Tammy is here The water park is good for us, Ru travels alot & we think we can break the journey up a bit this time. Sundays or Wednesdays are best for us. Definately NOT Thursdays. |
Y'all are so sweet. I'm flattered that you'd consider getting together again in September. It surely would be a huge treat for Hayley & me.
I'll be looking forward to pictures are stories from your next get together. |
hi all steve and are on holiday 6th september for a week any other time okay. Dougal now has aa little sheepie brother we collected him Saturday we have called him Hamish and he is 4 months old. A right cheeky little sheepie he is to. |
Wow Pepe how exciting! You kept that quiet! Congratulations - are there pictures??? We will have so many new sheepies there this year - I really can't wait. The sooner the better for the first one for us! |
we had been talking about getting another one for some time. end of last year we decided to get one in February. But this little boy became available and we grabbed him. |
Congratulations, Pepe! We haven't seen updated pictures of Dougal in ages & ages!! It's definitely time for you to post some new pics of him and now we can see the cheeky little fellow Hamish, too. |
we are away end of march and 26th July for a week.....how exciting. I would have to bring yorkie as well, but she thinks she is a sheepie and is not at all scared of big dogs... |
WOW I'm so excited to meet Hamish what a great name Please post pics if you can!!
KTB the yorkie is of course very welcome |
Hi
We'd be interested in meeting up for a sheepie day! We'll be away mid June and we can't do anything till the end of March (no holidays left!!) but any other time would be fine. Would love to see Bear running and playing with other sheepies... by the way, would we be able to let Bear off leash, he's deaf, are there roads or anything else we should be aware of at this water park? Cheers Carol and John |
Hi I'm late! I havent been on site for a while cause I'm back in College.
I would love to come to the Waterpark again, (also Max would like to come, but he couldnt do wed, thur, fri and I cant tue, all because bout college!) was easy access for me and I could only do it mainly on MONDAYS, cause that's normaly my day off, but you never know in my job!! We wouldnt meet weekends anyway would we?!?! ... and ofcourse having another meeting in September would be fab! Monika, Max and Charlie xxxxx waiting for the 2.nd UK Sheepie Day!!! |
Hi Pepe congratulations to the new puppy and what a name HAMISH sounds so scottish, oh bye the way our sheppie dog is called ah, eh, hmm oh of course HAMISH. If you are planning something in September Kim I will try and get over to meet you all maybe slip in a show while I'm there |
hi all willpost piccies of hamish as soon as we have repaired our photo bit. Ruggles we had the last sheepie day at kingsbury waterpark. If I remember rightly we only had on small section we kept them on leads. Your little sheepie is deaf do you use hand signals. Ihave a friend who has done tai chi for years he has always used tai chi hand movements as instructions for his dog he never uses verbal commands his dogs are not deaf though. His dogs are always laid back and gentle. |
hi all, Steve and I take dougal and Hamish walking here check out website www.ramblersretreat.co.uk. We also eat there. There are summer houses for owners and dogs to sit in if raining. It is in alton near alton towers staffordshire. Will try and think of other places |
hi all again, A few more places, Sherwood forest country park nottingham, elvaston country park near derby, Shipley country park Heanor derbyshire. they all have cafes and lots of places to walk. |
Aw guys,I live too far to meet for as sheepie day, Im in Hertfordshire, is there anywhere more central??? Also are other breeds welcome too??
Debsx |
I simply CANT go that near to Alton Towers without planning a trip there. Last year we went for the day, then stayed until late on a ghost vigil it was AWESOME!!! But very tiring. We wouldn't know what to do with Ru all day now. It's a very long way from us, so we would have to make it a few days holiday
Ahhh I LOVE Alton Towers. Of all the day trips to have, it's got to be the best in the UK |
You need to let us know if you plan one later this year - I've always wanted to go to the UK and what an excuse this would be |
I'm going over in late September, Kerry, so let's coordinate trips. |
Have we decided on a date yet? |

Congrats to your new Puppy!!! Cant wait to see Dougal and Hamish on the UK Sheepie day!! |
So far - I think Cassie would rather have a Sunday or Wednesday and Monika would prefer a Monday. I don't care what day it is but a Monday would be good if some of us are to travel over the day before as we could make a long weekend of it? Has anyone else got any preferences on which day to have it? If it is to be at the Waterpark again (and I have no problem with that myself - its fairly central and a lovely venue!) Kim said it would be better not to go at the weekend as its too busy.
How about April? The weather should be warming up a bit by then (hopefully!) Any one else got any suggestions - I can't wait! Bring on the dancing narna's!:banana::banana::banana: |
April sounds fine for me and the Waterpark is great!
Easy access and easy to find and just right in the middle of the country so everyone from south and north can reach it! It was fab last year to make our picnic there and for the Sheepies to run around and for us to go to the "loo" and have a lovely doggie walk around the lakes! Great place! You got my vote!! Let's bring on the Narna's!!! |
Ok!!! Lets Try to get a month and a day, and a date sorted!!!!! So would APRIL... be ok, for our sheepie day!!! And lets say a Wednesday!!! If we are all happy that its going to be at the waterpark!!! Weekends are no good there too many people there with their little ones... So the sheepie may have to be kept on leads..
Any Good!!! Does that help just need a date now!! |
Unfortunalety we cant come then, because Max and me have to work on a wednesday! Shame!!
Only Mondays I'm afraid, but I hope you all have fun!! |
Monika don't worry!!!! we have not set a date. yet. so maybe we will all find a date that will be ok!!! |
monday seems a good Idea, if people are coming the night before they only have to take one day off work. |
We can do a Monday, Greg can usually change his day off as long as it's to another weekday.
Lets do a Monday because we can't have it without Monika, Max & Charlie!!! Is everyone OK with a monday? (not during school holidays- is easter in April?) Cassie |
Ok!! Its going to be April!!! and a monday!!!! is that ok by everyone!!!
We just need a day now!!! I work every other monday so i can only do! 7th april or the 21st...... I think the 21st would be better!!!!! because maybe the weather might be a bit better do we all agree on the Waterpark!!! So How about MONDAY 21ST APRIL 2008.......... At The Waterpark!!!!! |
Where is the waterpark? please |

Kingsbury Waterpark should be not far from you! It's by Sutton Coldfield, just off the M42! here's a link, hope it works!!! http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/Web/corp ... 740045C34B |
Monday 21st april is fine, we are okay wth that. |
Monday is fine with us |
We aren't coming this year as it is a bit too far to travel but I can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures!! |
Oh NO Vicki!! I remember it was a little too far for you last time. But hey- if we get enough members here maybe we could start having North & South meets as much as it would be sad in a way, at least we could all get to a meet at some point. Oh I'm really sad you can't come.
Waiting to confirm the date with Greg..... |
I'm sad too (and Charlie)!!! What shall we do without you??????
I agree to a north and south meeting!! Will miss you a lot!!! |
How many people live in the north or the south? |
I'ld be interested........I've just put a post up looking for UK sheepie events, didn't read through everyone else's post until after....sorry!
Flossie isn't all sheepie, but I'ld (and I'm sure she would too) love to meet other sheepies. Where is the water park?? I live in the south of England......right on top of Heahrow in fact, hopefully this water park isn't too far?? What is the water park like? There is a place Windsor great park in virginia waters, surrey, it's amazingly beautiful, it is highly reccomended by all that have been, it's reccomened for dog walking and there is even a suggested route (including opptions to stop off at dog friendly pubs!) on this web site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/southerncounties/c ... ater.shtml What do you do on your sheepie day?? Do you just all have a walk together or is it more stalls selling sheepie items/small fate? Do you advertise it or is it really only for members of oes.org?? All so exciting!! |
Sorry, not been about for a few days (been to Swedish Lapland for my sisters wedding but that's for another post!....)
Monday April 21st is fine for us! Vickie PLEASE come! It just won't be the same without you and the gorgeous George! If we do end up with a North and South meet - we will come to both! Poppy whines a bit in the car sometimes but we'll just have to wear ear-plugs! Does George still not travel too well? Have you tried the Bach's flower remedies? I've heard they are good at settling dogs for travelling? In answer to your post Guest - last year was our first Sheepie Day and about 12? of us met up at Kingsbury Water Park (Ellie's Mum has put a link to their site on the thread) and we all let the dogs have a good run round to tire themselves. Then we went for a beautiful trail around the lakes - some dogs had a dip (remember Dougal?) We then ate our picnics although there is a restaurant where you can buy take-away food and had another long walk. Not sure who had most fun - us or the dogs! It was lovely to meet everyone in person and we did have other breeds there too so you wouldn't feel left out! I can't wait! |
Hi Guest!! heres the link for the waterpark its in kingsbury near Tamworth staffordshire Hope you can make it!!! As Karen said we had a great time last year!! And Yes Vicki you have to come!!!!!!!! And bring George!!! Ellie's Mum wrote: KTB wrote: Where is the waterpark? please Kingsbury Waterpark should be not far from you! Hi all,
Sorry, I couldn't have logged in properly last time I posted, hence I came up as a guest! I've looked up the park, it looks lovely, it has a nice play area for children, a steam train and a farm!!! Would I be able to bring my whole family along and my hubby can take the kids in the park on the farm and on the train??!! It's an hour and a half journey for me But I'm sure it would be worth it, my in-laws live in coventry, not too far so maybe we'll be able to meet them there too, then hubby can have a day with his parents, our kids, and I can meet up with them after the walk! It's a win, win, I'll speak to my hubby, but I'm sure we can make it! Flossie's a cross OES, with a beardie, and she'll only be 6 months in April so she'll be quite small compared to all the others! |
We cant wait to meet Flossi, an OES cross Bearded Collie, wow! Size doesnt matter, the dogs are important!!!
... and Vicky: you and George HAVE to come, it wouldnt be the same without you!!!!! Please come!!! |
No sorry but we really aren't coming this time.
George is having a run of little things wrong with him, cuts bites and scrapes, runny eyes, upset stomachs etc etc. He HATED the journey the last time as the wagons on the motorway freaked him out and on the way home he was very stressed and cried most of the way! Just for this year I'm not going to put him through the journey though I am upset that I won't be seeing you all this year (apart from at crufts!!). He is better at travelling now so by next time I'm sure he will be ready to see you all again!! Thanks for the suggestion of the North/ South day however I don't think there are enough of us in the north to do it?? I don't know? I'll be thinking of you all on the day and hopefully we'll be there next time!! |
Oh thats only about 48 miles from us! |
Yes!!!! We are coming!! Greg has moved his holiday dates
It will take us 3 hours (the M25 being the worst thing) we will stop for a meal on the way. Ru travels alot, 2-3 hours usually, so hopefully with breaks he will be ok. Really looking forward to meeting all the new people & catching up with friends from last year We were the only ones without a dog last year- EVERYONE is welcome, sheepie or no sheepie, dog or no dog!! Remember sheepies are huge, will be excited & have a habit of knocking people down, they will be running around on the open grass, just a warning if you are bringing young family |
Well mine will be on a lead! she hasnt realised you have to stay close yet!!! I am getting excited. It will be just my luck for Summer to come into season and then we wont be able to come! |
