Couldn't help but throw in a bit of humor and stealing a line from a scary movie... It's nice to be back amongst my Sheepie friends from all over the world. I really missed you guys! One of my children was very ill and the Mama Bear instinct became a priority. It will take me a bit of catching up to do since I haven't been online since June but can't wait to read the stories. I have been wondering when you were going to brighten our board! I am sorry that your child was sick. It is a time when a parent can feel so helpless. I am so glad he is feeling better. Please tell how Blue, Merlin, Panda, and Austin are doing? Are you still teaching kids, along with G? I can't wait to hear how you and your "entire family" are doing. Stormi and co. |

Thanks everyone for the welcome backs!! PANDA SAVED MY SON'S LIFE!!!!!!! When I walked in my house I heard strange thumping noises and found my son on the floor in convulsions and vomiting. What prevented his apiration (hope I spelt that correctly) was Panda had wrapped his body around him to prevent my son from rolling on his back. Amazing!!!!!! Roy and Elby you must be proud !!! I missed hearing about Lil Walterand his adventures, I missed news from Roy and Elby, I missed hearing about how Willowsprite and her large brew are doing in their new place, I missed Tanyathenurse stories, I missed hearing how Ron and Joan are doing, I missed Henry stories..I missed seeing new pics of Sky,Dancer and Abby, I missed hearing how Saulmr's two are doing, I missed reading stories from Stormi and Marley,I missed welcoming new chatters to this site ...sigh I could go on and on. You know, I am amazed to hear how many times one of our furry babies has saved a life! Just on this forum there are so many stories! I can just immagine how many more there are out there! Wow! I am so happy your son is safe! Do you know what caused the seizure? I know there is medication out there to control that, but I am sure you have looked into this already! Again, welcome back and let us know how your son is doing! |
go Panda go!!!!!
how's your son? is he alright? our sincere wishes. Hi all, we have been "lurking" for the past few months as we weren't sure what we can add to this amazing forum. having said that, we've been enjoying your chit chats and pictures daily. We have rescued a mixed breed girl (shar-pei and aussie cattle dog mix) named fanfan. She was abandoned in an apartment when her owner moved without her. When we got her she was 7 months old and weights 30 pounds, now she's a leggy 53 pounder who'll be celebrating her 1st birthday next month. both in appearance and behaviour, fanfan can't be more different than our tung tung. at first we weren't used to her "maturity" and "quiet" personality at all, but now she has gotten a lot more outgoing though still much quieter than any dogs we've know, infact in the past 5 months of raising her, we've only heard her bark 4 or 5 times. the vet thinks she as one of the tamest dog he's ever encountered in his 20 odd years of practice - "she's a keeper" was his comment after her checkup. although she is great with all two legged she feels most at home with her kin, she is very socialble with other dogs in the neighbourhood. our vet mentioned that she would be much happier if she has a stable four legged companion, so now we are looking for a companion for her. however, we are quite conflicted as to who the companion should be: A) another rescue They are so many in HK, we feel guilty that we aren't helping as much as we could or B) a girl oes pup we have raised one til he was 14, we visit this forum everyday. 'nuff said. we have oes dreams so often that we are embrassed about it... or C) a newfoundland girl pup We have never met a Newf but our vet suggested the breed to us saying that they have less "dominance issues" than oes. what to do? what to do? |
Hi Roy and Elby!
It was good to hear from both of you again. I was thrilled to hear about your FanFan...she certainly does sound like a keeper!!! One of my dogs is Lab/Blue Heeler - otherwise known as Aussie cattle dogs. FanFan must have the calm disposition from her Sharpei side as trust me the Cattle dogs also from the herding breeds are a whirlwind of activity...I say on par with Sheepies. Blue still runs full speed and plays ball even at 15 with little sign of slowing down. As for what to do...well the Humane Society always suggest that you let the dog do the choosing and not you, as after all it will be their buddy. Is that possible to do? With a pup, FanFan will automatically be the dominate one as she's older and dogs are more submissive to those already in the household...but that may change as the pup grows..especially with two females. Personally if given a choice I would rather go with a dog of opposite sex, the older female usually becomes the dominate one...although with FanFan this may be a good thing as the younger dog would emulate her behavior perhaps? Ha! That last part was pretty funny considering I have three males...but I did say if given the choice. One thing I thought of is how is FanFan with cats as a companion doesn't necessarily have to be a canine? Just remember that along with a playmate will come horsing around, and you may return home to find lamps on the floor and signs of roughhousing...:O) (Not sure if you crate your dog or give it the run of the house or would have it outdoors.) Newfies are known to be gentle giants just like Great Danes and need only a little excercise to keep them happy, unlike our Sheepies as you well know. Good Luck with your decision and I really want to hear what you decided to do. Thanks for the well wishes for my son and still can't get over what an awesome dog Panda is! I just drove a friend to the airport yesterday and the memories of picking him up and his first day home came flooding back. (dabs eyes and sniffs.) Well take care and best of luck with your choice. Marianne |
Hi there
I think you will make your choice work whatever you choose, you seem to be dedicated dog owners. |
Once again Panda is making my cry, happy tears this time. What a wonderful, sensitive boy he was to understand that your son needed his help. Panda was right there to take care of him. You and Panda were meant to be together. Please give a big hug to your son from his mom's furry friend Henry, a tummy rub to Panda, and cookies for all. |
