haircuts and urine
not been on for a while... we got alfie shaved, and ive made a routine of brushing him every night so that by the time his coat is long again he'll be cool with getting brushed.. on a different note i have a question - for the last few days alfie has peed in the house without warning, he usually barks at us to let us know he needs to go, but a few times its just happened almost as if he isnt aware that he needs to go.. he's done it on the couch, on the rug and on the floor. there's nothing different in his diet, im not aware of him drinking more water than usual, and i cant see anything that he'd be anxious about. could this be a medical issue? or is it because he hasnt had his testicles removed? not really something i want to do, but if its necessary..... anyway, thanks in advance, ps, i'll post some pics of the new sleek alfie when i get some on the pc |

| Could be that he has a little infection, you might want to get him to the vet.
Not sure how old he is, but pee marking is different than just having the urge. If he is marking, you will see him sniff a spot and then lift his leg on it. I don't recall your home situation but if Alphie is the only dog home then I doubt it is related to not being neutered. |

yeah alfie is the only dog in the house, and i haven't observed any lifting of the leg, in fact he only lifts his leg 40 or 50% of the time at all.... the vet did say recently that he possibly had a little urinary infection, but it didnt look bad so it would just go away on its own he's to go in on wednesday anyway, so i'll ask then thanks |
| You might consider taking in a sterile urine sample when he goes in on
Wednesday... they can run another test then to see if the UTI cleared up or if it's something that needs an antibiotic. Struvite crystals can make the urge to go VERY strong... the dog just can't make it to the door in time. But the vet probably would have mentioned their presence after the first test so I doubt this is an issue. Best wishes~ |
