I am moving and need to find a home for Sophie

Sophie is almost one year old, I have had her about 6 months, I am moving and cannot take her with me. Any advice on what to do? Where to go? Where to post for Sheep Dog lovers?

She is somewhat skittish around men but loves ladies and children. She is house broken but crated when I am at work, and does have occasional accidents. She walks and runs on a leash. Has not been placed outdoors for any extended period of time.

Up to date one all shots.

I am in Ohio, if anyone can give me advice, I would appreciate it.
Thanks...Lora

did you check with your breeder about rehoming her? ALso there are many people involved in Rescue on the forum who can probably help you.
Madeline Erickson Waynenik@aol.com handles OES rescue in Ohio.
You might give her a call or drop her an email to see if she can help.

You can find her contact telephone number here-

Where are you in Ohio? Sorry you have to give her up.
I am in Oak Harbor Ohio. About 30 miles west of Cedar Point. I have been trying to load a picture of her so that the world can see her happy face and hopefully she will be adopted by a loving family.....
Don't be discouraged if it takes a bit for Madeline to get back with you. Most all rescue workers are volunteers, so it may take her a bit before she sees your message.
What is your time frame? I mean when are you moving and how soon do you need to place Sophie?
Oooooh... she's lovely.

PLEASE keep us posted and let us know if you have any problems placing her.
what a sweetheart. I'd take her in a heartbeat if we were closer.
Good Luck to you (and Sophie)
I is always less stressfull for the dog to place the dog directly into a new home...Provided the new home is appropriate.

Being fostered is great for assessment and testing, but it is very hard on the dog.

If you'd like I can give some advise on re-homing...Questions to ask, contract to have in place, how and why home visits and vet reference checks are crucial. So many times dogs are re-homed and it was not the right home...Then they are more messed up and end up in a shelter or rescue or worse....This is very hard on the dog.

First and foremost I certainly hope your dog is spayed. If not, please have that done right away, and have that be her adoption fee. Or give her to a rescue group so they can do it.
Any word on this little girl?

I was at a pet walk and met a couple from Ohio that are looking for a young female. They have been on the rescue list (southeast) for a couple months, and I told them I would keep my ears open.

If anyone has updated info, I would love to pass it along.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the advice and support I received through this forum. Before I had to make this difficult decision, I never knew this forum was out there, what a resource it would have been going through those first few months of her life. This site is a blessing, keep up the great advice.
Sophie has been placed with a dear friend of mine and the transistion has been wonderful. It broke my heart to see her go, but knowing that she will be cared for, loved, and happy, plus the fact that I will be able to see her and visit when I come back home was a big deciding factor in her placement.
I have posted a pic of her waving goodbye. She does look happy, so it makes my heart happy.
Thanks again to all of you!
God Bless,
Sophies Momma
