has anyone heard this or done this its either cider vineger or white vineger |
|
I've never heard that one but I have heard it stops them from burning the grass. |
I've heard that but I also heard that it helps with bad doggy breath! I tried to put some vinegar in Rheba's water and she wouldn't touch it. Yummm...vinegar flavored water...it must be tasty! YUCK! |
Forget the burning grass.....it's a myth. I know MO won't go near anything with vinegar......even a Greek stew called stefatho...just a touch of vinegar and she backs off quick. Other dogs are less fussy, just K9 garbage disposers.
Personally I'm not buying the vinegar treatment for hips. |
heck, when panda was sick with colitis, i couldnt get her to drink water with some gatoraide in it...vinegar...never! |

That's what I was just thinking, how would you get them to drink it? |

Theres just no logic to it |
When Abi was teething she had tear stains. Her breeder advised 1 t to 1 gal of water for the staining. My vet told me it would not hurt her and it would help some in preventing UTI's. She drinks it and drinks often. It does not help with the grass, nor does it help with beard stains nor urinary stains on her fur. |
If gastic acid has a pH from 1-2 and vinegar at it's best is no lower than 2.4, how is vinegar aiding anything? BTW, urine has a pH of 6.....almost neutral. |
Found this on an holistic pet care site:
"Apple cider vinegar in your pet's waterer or food may be useful at making your pet smell less tasty to mosquitos. We don't recommend giving apple cider vinegar (ACV) if you are using plastic, aluminium, or galvanized watering containers as the ACV will leach the plasticizers out of the plastic and the metals out of aluminum or galvanized containers" Sounds like using ceramic dishes would be the safest if giving vinegar. |
Yeah! I've had my eye on a new water bowl but my current one is in good condition. Now I can rationalize and convince myself that a new purchse would be ok since the ceramic would be better . Thanks for sharing the info. |

My grandma use to say that all the time, she lived out on a farm where ticks were bad....so above the reg meds she would give vinegar, she said it kept them away. |

Hmmmmm...wonder if this would work to keep them away from people, too? |
grandmas always know best. Mine always had the weirdest remedies. When I was young I always thought, "can't we just be normal and use regular medicine?" Now, I've turned into my grandmother. |
Apple cider vinegar is what should be used ,not regular vinegar (not that it taste much better ...Yuck ! )
But here is the brand I would recommend if anyone want to try it for their pets or your self. http://www.bragg.com/FAQ/faq_applecider.html It does tell you a little about it and you can buy it for a few bucks at any healt food store or even 'wild oats'. It is amazing stuff. I managed a health food store years ago and had seen what this stuff did for people. I also read some studies that we in the business would only get and sure enough no other ACV had the results like this brand. Keep it in your fridge and take a swig every morning (better add some juice to it to get it down ) but you will feel the difference in a week . I think I am going to go get some myself ,it has been years since I have thought of this stuff . Antoinette |
