Blue skies, sunny and cold...hi here today is 58....brrrr chilly for phoenix! |
All I can say is BRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! It's 18 degrees here. I love the snow and cold though. I don't have to work today....so I'm going to stay inside where it's warm and enjoy the day. |
Brrrrrr here. Single minus digits (F, not C) plus wind chills that take it to -25 to -35. Not a good day to spend a lot of time outside. But my car started, so I'm ok. We finished our weekly snow before the cold hit.
Keep warm out there. |
It's in the 30s here and SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee
I don't know why I'm excited it means I get to sleep at the hospital tonight. It is supposed to be in the 20s tonight so any thing that fall and melts will be ice when I need to come back. I just love to watch it snow. |
Cold? COLD? We are (and I quote weather.com) "3, feels like -12" EECCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Pirate, Keira, cuddle with mama and keep me warm!) |
High of 80 today, which I think may have hit this morning. When I took the girls out for their walk. had on shorts and short sleeve shirt. As the day has gone on, feels colder, had to throw a sweater on. Our high tomorrow is supposed to be only 60F. Please keep your cold weather up North!!! |
Heck ej your in a heat wave it's -6 and with wind chill -14 here and we are way further south than you . Just a few flurries this am but nothing now |
Deborah, when I got up this morning it was minus 4 F in South Elgin. You are closer to the lake so it's warmer! Poor Bob has to be in his stall today and tomorrow--even too cold for the ponies.
But meteorlogically, the third week of January is the coldest. So next week, it will get warmer and warmer and warmer. No really, this is the coldest week of the year. |
Started at 7 this a.m. but currently up to 41.......warmest in many days! No snow, just cold. Paula is right, this is usually the coldest week of the year.......well, the mid to end of January as the days are just beginning to get long, but atmospherically the lag time is almost a month before noticeable warmth begins. Kinda like a giant version of diurnal temps, the coldest time is usually 30 minutes after sunrise and warmest in late mid-late afternoon. |
Hmm, just woke up. It was -13 F when I got off work this morning. Thankfully the wind had died down a bit.
The Element started this morning and my new remote start ROCKS!!!! I came down to the ER lobby and beamed it to life. Read the morning paper a bit, then walked out to my semi-warm vehicle! I don't know how "warm" it got (supposed to stay in the -F all day), but it is -8F now. On a bad note, our neighbors farmhouse burned to the ground last night. Todd and I were both at work, so we missed all the going ons. They are our next neighbors, about 1/4 mile east of us. They closed our gravel raod to emergency vehicles only and had a tanker brigade going. I know at least 6 different FD's responded and hauled water all night long. When I got off work I stopped - it was still burning at 8am. Luckily They are OK. They (Matt and Judy) were at a birthday party for their grandson at their son's house. The son's house is right in front of the parents, but a huge windbreak seperates the 2 houses. Matt went back to his house to get a camera for his granddaughter, and came to a burning house. He called 911 and started hauling stuff out of the house. The rest of the family had no idea until Mark (son) got a call from a friend who is on one of the responding FD"s - saying "do you know your dad called 911 and reported a fire in progress??!!" Yikes! It was so bitterly cold too. We are so thankful they are all OK. Several of the firefighters have frostbite, and they pulled them from of the house after one guy fell through the floorboards, but was saved by his pack. |
Glad everyone is OK but still a tragedy. Firefighters rock! |
I just barely caught a snippet of news about some part of Russia where it is (was?) going to be -55C !!!! That's -67F!
They are very concerned for the people in the area, and concerned that such a low temperature could cause electrical power outages. Anyone hear anything else about this? |
No, but it looks like areas NE of Yakutsk could be the zone you are talking aobut. Yakutsk is a balmy -20. Ah, such is life in Siberia where it gets so cold metal actually breaks. |
It is warm here for Jan..... usually colder.... BUT the SNOWWWW still snowing... on a good note went out to shovel and someone do not know came by on his quad and clean out my drive... my son could have KISSED him . Hopefully he shows in the morning. AND glad we bought snow tires last year. Snow ball weather for sure thinking of shaving Sami. THINKING |
I got up this morning and it was -7 in my backyard. Wanted to crawl back in bed as it was only 6:30 but the boys wanted out. Let them out and set the timer on the stove for 5 minutes. That cold, thats all they get. Its now a balmy 5 above. |
We're up to a sweltering 11 but with the wind, it feels like -3.
This sucks. |
It is 7 p.m. and 33 F. Last week at this time it was -27. That was 20 degrees below normal, now we are 10 degrees above normal. |
We had a high of 63 degrees today.
In my opinion that is too cold.... at least for the low Desert. We are supposed to be at 70 this time of year. It's 51 right now and will be in the low 40's tonight. |
Las Vegas - we were in the 50's today and it will be in the 30's tonight.
I do own a coat and yes I'm using it Enjoy your snow, people, I'm loving the pictures, but I could never survive the cold. I already know, I'm a wus! Sorry to hear about the farmhouse burning down. |
Wow...I guess I should hush up about our high of 26 degrees being too COLD.
I'm with you, LSVL, I own a coat and I'm wearing it. Along with thermal underwear, teeshirt, sweater, jeans, wool socks & boots, scarf & gloves. |
-2 on my thermometer this morning. Wind chill puts it around -20. I have a TERRIBLE time getting the boys to go outside. Ty can cheat and come back in and use his litter box (I still make him go outside) but poor Tasker HAS to go out. |

Today we have bright sun, some snow still on the ground. We had a great walk in the cemetery and now Willoughby is having his nap. |

YES, Ty has a litter box!!!!!!!!!!!!! He doesn't like to put his little behind down in the snow. He'll pee outside but won't poop, as soon as we come in he heads right to his box to poop. Unfortunately a Tasker size litter box would be a litter CRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
