I did not think that was bad at all. I was thinking every 6 weeks more for a real good brush.(and she was going to show me tips on brushing mostly legs ) I will be doing the summer buzz in May and wanted them to get used to each other. And of course not to do a wash would be great. AND can you take them in and not get a wash not sure if 6 weeks may to to much. She may do the belly and legs only if I ask. Just with all the snow and muck that can happen soon. |

during the summer, i do the grooming myself...clipping and bathing...it takes a couple of hours....
in the winter, i have panda bathed and blown dry at a place called smelly dog...that is $20.00 plus tip...its a smoking deal! I dont cut her hair in the winter, except trim around her eyes.. brushing takes a good hour-hour and a half at least once a week when she is in her winter coat.... all in all i dont think its all that bad....but then again, nothing makes me happier than hanging out with my dog |
I do not cut in the winter, but I do on the belly area just because of the snow, balls up on them. I only shave down in the summer because the kids take them into the rivers in the summer and I can not keep up with brushing, the matts win. Mostly on the legs and Sami and I both hate the legs. I usually do brush her good once a week and every nite while I watch tv I find those darn daily knots and brush out. Same as you just to hang out really. Blue loves to be brushed, so I a hoping that keeps up, his fur is nothing like Sami's hers is WAY thicker and kinker when wet.(Even when she was younger) The groomer did say it will not cost $60.00 if she is done on the fast side, so who knows, she is pretty good. |
Heavens to Betsy those are great prices.
Just to get the dogs bathed, shaved down and toenails clipped in the summer (usually two sometimes three times) is $55 each at the grooming school. I bathe, dry and rake and brush them out myself about once a month year round in-between groomings. (Not so much real raking in the summer, but I do it to keep them expecting it). When I have them actually groomed in the fall/winter, it's $90 each for bathing, ears, nails, expressing anal glands and having their teeth brushed. I do that about every 5-6 weeks. So I'd say they only go about 3 weeks between baths. But you have to realize, they're mostly inside dogs so I need them clean, but when they go outside they don't stand a chance with the red dirt in Oklahoma. So they probably get bathed more often than they would somewhere else. Aside from that, I brush them all out once or twice a week (depending on their coat length). I did get a recommendation for a new groomer that is waaaaaaaay across town from me that does it all for $35. They all have appointments for next week to try that out. I expect it to be good since I saw how she did on Leo (pup I helped re-home and is now with a friend of mine). I'll continue to make that trek for those prices. That will save almost $50 a month! |
The groomer I use in Ga charges $40 to brush, bath/dry, nails, pads, trim his belly and rear. The one in Co charges $45 for the same thing. I usually get him done every 4-6 weeks. During the in between time I brush. He gets some part of him brushed out just about every night. Sometimes we will do one side then the next evening do the other. Sunday mornings we turn on some music and he gets brushed out completely. |
Wow! Groomers are expensive! My boys have never been to the groomer, I do their nails, pads, butts, summer shave, clipping, eyes, ears and I bathe them too. I suppose working for a groomer for a while did help a little.
I also really enjoy doing it! This reminds me, I have to brush Boni tonight... |
WOW! I need to move....groomers here in Florida charge me at least $85, without tip! I take my boy, Sunny, every three months! |
I agree, here in MD, Petsmart charges 85.00. Other's prices are about the same. |
