The show was in St Paul - the Land O'Lakes KC show. It is our largest area show, always held the 1st weekend in January. Brrr! It is a great show site - the downtown RiverCentre. You park in the downtown ramps, pull your gear across the skyways! The skyways are heated, so it isn't too bad once you get to them. Last year this show was Chewie's 1st time in the breed ring, and he got his 1st point. and a shot from the skyway - This year we just entered Rally. LeAnne was going for Clay's last leg and title in rally novice, Chewie was making his debut in the off-lead world, in rally advanced. Clay qualified on Saturday, and got his RN. Clay will be 7 next month, and LerAnne has just had him since March. Claiborne was never expected to sit or do any obedience before, so they have made so much progress. He also is a naturally shy guy, so a big show like this was a true test of his partnership working with LeAnne. There are lots of people who don't enter this show in obedience just because it is big, crowded and noisy. Thankfully our rally ring and the Utility obedience ring are on "quiet" corner!! LeAnne and Clay awaiting awards - (look at that cute belly!!) - With their ribbon - Chewie and I were in advanced, which is all off lead, and adds a 16 inch jump. He was such a good boy! Saturday he was really on, and we got a 93 (out of 100) and placed 2nd in our class. Sunday was not as good, but still got a 90 and another 2nd place. The same girl and her Aussie beat us both days. Here we are Saturday with our awards - There was a little mix up Saturday. They post your score on a board outside the ring after your run through - and I got a 93 - I was so happy. When we were in the ring, they announced we were the winner, with a 97. I said "no, I have the 93". The judge said "OES number 308 is the 97 and winner" - "don't argue, come get your ribbon" - so I went up. Then afterwards, they realized the judges book was marked wrong, and we switched the ribbons the way they were supposed to be!! So, in the next picture - pretend I am holding a RED ribbon, not the blue! Chewie saying - are those really my ribbons?? - We had a good weekend with the dogs. We stayed over at a motel - which the boys love doing; went out to dinner Saturday night with friends (OES friends, of course!) and had nice weather to boot. |
