I'd like to send a small "tip" or donation to someone, and don't want them to know that I sent it. Can that be done with PayPal? I am not trying to hide from the government or anything, and it will be a de minimis amount, but I just don't want the recipient to know that I sent it. |

You could buy a money order and send it...aren't they just like cash? |
That is a great idea Wendy. And Ron if you don't want them to recognize your postmark - then if in state send it from another town. If out of state send it to somebody here on the forum and they can send it so the postmark will really confuse them.
Very anonymous. Oh and by the way Ron please don't feel the need to send me money - I would just spend it. |
With paypal you would have to sign up with differant e-mail address that would not be connected to your name |
Doesn't a money order have to have the senders name and address? Could you just put the cash in a card and send that? |
I occassionally send cash in an envelope to my nieces and nephews. I know you aren't supposed to but I've never had a problem. |
If I signed up at paypaw with a new email address, wouldn't it just tell them the name on the account anyway?
Oh wait -- what if I created an email address at like hotmail or something and sent cash from my paypal account to the new one, then forwarded the cash from the new one (with the new email addy) to the recipient? Does paypal have a mandatory identification before you can send or receive cash balance transactions? |
Ron:
You know I won the lottery so I really don't need the cash now.... But thank you anyway. |
Ha Ha! How do you know I wasn't doing all the legwork and getting info on how you could send me some moolah from your winnings?
By the way, the answer is Yes. Paypal requires user verification before you can send money, so the above scheme won't work. |
I still think a money order works...you don't have to fill out address. It is just for tracking if necessary. Maybe Western Union can wire money anonamously. |

Western Union gives you a receipt number that you must have in order to pick up the money. Also, the person would have to know where you are wireing the money to. A money order through the mail is probably a good deal. You can always look into a prepaid money card. |
There's an idea, a pre paid Visa. But then you still have to get it delivered.
I'd put the money in an envelope, stick it in the door, ring the bell and RUNNNNNNNN |
