My mom pulled a purebred OES from a high kill shelter in Denver about a week ago that had been found running wild with as they said a "pack of dogs". She was in full coat and a mess The shelter said she was about 3 years old. She has since been fixed (you cannot pull out of that shelter with out altering first, they don't allow it) and shaved because she was matted to the skin. She also picked up kennel cough at the shelter, so she is being treated for that as well as both myself, my mom and our vet can tell she is under a year -- so the shelter got that wrong as well. Her cough worsened from being put under to be fixed -- but that's a different story and we couldn't do anything about that. She is housebroken as well as extremely gentle with children (I have 3 boys) and my mom's other dogs and our sheepies -- besides knowing how to shake, give hugs, lay down, sit and a lot of other things. She was someone's baby ........ Here's what is concerning: There have been NO lost ads for females OES's in Denver that I can find other than for a male OES I almost wonder if she was stolen from somewhere else because of how well trained she is -- and I haven't seen anything posted for a stolen OES either. She is a dear heart, she was not abused and she is definitely loved here, but if she has a Mommy she needs to be returned to, I want to find her. She has one blue eye and one brown eye and is a whitehead -- I am tossing up placing a photo because I want people to be able to distinguish her (and not just look at the photo). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated and I do want to stress, she is out of the shelter and in a very loving home, where she will stay unless her Mommy or Daddy is found! She fits right in with the herd here! Kirstin |

Thank you for taking her in.
With people traveling this time of year, the owners may not even be aware she is gone. Especially if the person in charge of her care while they are gone is not on top of things. Or if they just moved to the area, they may not know where to look for her. My girls can get very ratty looking in 48 hours........ Have you considered contacting the vets in the area? Some of them may be closed for the Holidays, but someone has to know about her. |
Probably a dumb questions, but the shelter checked for a micro-chip? |
Awww... thanks so much to your mom for saving her?
Did the vet scan her for a microchip? Did you speak with the Colorado rescue to see if they had received any reports of a stolen sheepie? You might call the surrounding area vets to see if they've heard of a lost sheepie... maybe animal control too. I'd really think carefully about placing a photo online just yet. The entire world would see it and unfortunately there are some unscrupulous and weird people who might try to claim her. I hope if she was stolen that she'll be reunited with her family. If not, it's wonderful to know she's found a great home |
Oh bless her...and bless you for looking after her. I hope she gets reunited she sounds a little darling. Keep us posted please. |
She is not chipped and the CO OES Rescue didn't know of any lost/stolen sheepies ...... and they weren't taking any in until the 7th of January.... |
Oops... please don't think I was suggesting turning her over to rescue.
I just wondered if they might have heard about one lost/stolen. I know this sheepie girl is in a safe and loving place right now. |
No worries! We always check that first! |
