rescue help

the Michigan thread was closed so I couldn't post there. Ijust wanted to apologize for being the start of the negative complaining in there. It wasn't my intent. I totally understand being short handed in a volunteer organization. I am an elder at my church and see the lack of commitment and the non-lack of advice on how things should be done. Again just wanted to apologize if I offended anyone. I was just asking if anyone knew how to get ahold of them as I had not heard back and would be traveling in their area.

You were very gracious... you have nothing to apologize for.
What state do you live in? Maybe we can all keep our ears
and eyes open for another pup.
thanks. I am new to this site and oes community and want to build some good bridges rather than degrade the volunteers who already have a thankless position most of the time.

If you hear of anything in the Indiana area let me know. Appreciate the help.

God bless,

Gregg
Greg, Welcome! The "rescue lady" in Indiana is named Nita. I think her forum name is Maggie Mae (I think).

She is super terrific! I've had the pleasure of meeting her in person. I know if she can help you, she will.

Keep an eye out for her, and introduce yourself.

Welcome to the forum!
Hi Greg,

Thanks for thinking of a rescue dog. We got Ralph about 5 months ago from the Minn. OES Rescue and he's just wonderful. Nancy Hakala from Minnesota works with the people in Indiana, so she would be another contact person for the Indiana area.

I don't know if you've found it, but in case you haven't - here's the link for the rescue groups http://www.oes.org/html/oes_rescue.shtml

I'd wanted an OES all of my life and am so glad that we found Ralph through the rescues. He's everything I'd wanted.

Ann
a. I have chatted with her a couple of times and she is very nice. I have an application in, so I am sure I will be contacted if something is available.
i wish that thread wasn't closed!! I wanted to add a disclaimer to my comment. i think NEOESR is wonderful, and GA helped me when I was having problems with Walter, and that certainly isn't in her job description. They probably need a lot more help than they are getting!

I wish that thread wasn't closed!!

I was just told that there appears to be a typographical error in the
email address provided in the original post... there's an extra space at the
end of the email address so it's actually being sent to

grannie.annie @neoesr.org_

I put an extra space before the @ so you can see the underscore in the
address. A couple of us tried the email address ourselves and the email is
returned as undeliverable. :(

So IF that link was used to contact Grannie Annie, it was like dialing a
telephone number that doesn't exist yet expecting the party to answer.
It's a simple mistake that ANY one of us could have easily made.
well, i just got back from my 6 hour car ride with the weather and it was amazing to see all the posts. can't wait to get a dog now with everyone's input. appreciate the help.
Ok...ok...I was going to stay out of this, but I hate to have G/A get a unfounded bad reputation.

We really wanted a pup, and I had several email exchanges with her. She was flooded with requests for the puppies.

I guess she found it best (and she certainly has more experience with rescue than any of us) to bring them all east to a central location. Hence, me being in Illinois..I was out.

She did reply to me several times. But yes, she and I have had a long relationship. But, in her defense (and goodness knows, she does NOT need defending) I believe she was overwhelmed by the response.

Rescue is not pretty. Rescue is not fair. Rescue (when puppies are involved) will always piss someone off. But in the long run...the puppies will get very excellent homes..and isn't that the point?

I wish I had one of the pups, but....it wasn't meant to be. And I wish they had stayed in the midwest...but I am not in the position to make those decisions. But then again, nor am I in the position to take the criticism for what I do or decide.

I wish all six pups very long, happy and healthy lives..and to the people who did get to adopt them, damn...I wish I was you. Give them all the love you have. Bless you all. Bless G/A for making the hard calls. And when you make the hard calls, sometimes "polite protocal" goes out the window. Gotta be!
Ok..I think I got my topics confused. Sorry.....

I just thought this was the "angry" guest.

Greg...hang in there! I promise the rescue quest will pay off!
