Now is very hot in Argentina (102* F). He loves to take a walk, do excersises, play, etc. But I don't know if it is going to be bad for his health. You know... go before 11.am and after 6 pm... Any tips? Should he stays at home and not take a walk or do it even it is hot, - do 1 hour excersise- ? Thanks dani |

WOW! 106 degree's huh!? I think the warmest it got here (oklahoma) last summer was 102. THere was a month or so where it was real hot that we limited Gracie's excersize. We'd go on 20 min. walks early morning or after dark. We would play more inside to make up for the difference in excersize. Most of the time she'd tell us when she'd had enough She usually sleeps throught the hottest time of the day anyway, but when she did want to play outside we'd jump in the pool (I'm sure a pond, lake, ocean, kiddy pool would work just as well) |
Hi- I have an OES named Jasmine Marie. She is 11 years old and she adapts to all weather. In the summer she lays on the beach with me. I put sun screen on her nose where it is real pink because she will burn. I also always make a shaded spot for her at the beach so she can retreat there if she gets too hot. She loves to swim and drinks lots of water in the summer. ENjoy your puppy.
It will be the best dog you have ever had. Cindy |
Hi Dany!
We have an old english sheep dog, we live in New York, it gets very hot in the summer here too. I would advice to you to be receptive to what your dog tells you physically. Look out for his/her tiredness, if you see that he is too tired to go out in the heat for a long walk, take him/her out for a walk until you see that he/she feels or tries to tell you that it's time to go home. Each dog is different, but when it comes to heat, be receptive and respect your doggie's needs. Don't worry about him/her not getting enough exercise, hot weather does not provide the best environment for exercising anyway. |

Do you live in Manhattan? If so,, I know how hot it is in there. I lived 3 years there... Shanti loves to take a walk, even if he is tired so I try to be perceptive about "my" body... If I am sooooo hot and without energy, I won't go out with him. Besos dani |

We'd go on 20 min. walks early morning or after dark. LAST SUMMER I HAD A DOG WALKER (DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE RIGHT TERM). SHE USED TO CAME WHENEVER SHE WANTED, SO I HAD TO LET HER GO. SO THIS SUMMER I WILL HAVE TO WAKE VERY EARLY TO WALK AND/OR RUN /BIKING WITH HIM... but when she did want to play outside we'd jump in the pool (I'm sure a pond, lake, ocean, kiddy pool would work just as well) I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A POOL BUT AT LEAST WHEN I AM WATERING THE PLANTS, SHANTI CAMES RUNNING AND STARTS PLAYING WITH THE WATER. I HATE THE WAY MY HOUSE STAYS AFTER THAT!!! BUT I REALLY DON'T CARE. bESOS DANI |
