Albert considers your brother as one of his siblings and the "level" (eye to eye) is probably part of the "pack" mentality.
That's my guess anyway! |
Lennon is the same thing. Albert may be seeing your brother as someone he can challenge for a position on the pack and will do anything in his power to get at a higher position than him to prove he is on a higher herarchy level. Getting at your level is also a way to greet you by licking your face. That's the way a doggie says hello!
Since Lennon is not aggressive and knows that if I let him get his paws on my shoulders it's rough play time, I'm game. If you want to avoid that, ask your brother to turn his back on him every time he does that and firmly say NO!.. Albert will get the message soon. OES's are velcro dogs, they love to be with people and see what they are doing, so you will have to deal with their playful nature for some time.... Good Luck! |
Thanks for the replies!
It's not bothersome at all, just curious really. He's not agressive when he does it, I think he just really loves Adam. But wanted to get other opinions. thanks yall |
Great! It's good to hear that you and your brother are OK with Albert doing that. Some people don't like it, ant it's good dog manners to teach them to jump only on people that allows it... Saves you a lot of trouble.
Albert looks great on that tux! |
imagining that is cracking me up. |
I have to agree with BritPresSyd. I think Albert is trying to alpha over your brother. It may appear fun to us humans but I think he's trying to assure his status in his pack. A firm, and consistent "no" is in order. Give them an inch ... I've seen the eye-to-eye thing at the dog park countless times and it has on occassion gotten unpleasant. OESs are big dogs and need to taught that they are not the alphas. |
