It is all very minor and I know he will be ok but I am just worried about the anesthesia. They want to keep him overnight but I insisted that he come home. The Vet doesn't have anyone there at night so it makes no sense at all to me to have him there alone. I had to sign a form saying whether I wanted everything, or nothing done in the event of an unforseen emergency Of course I signed for everything to be done, it just felt really wierd. My big old BUBBY, I wish he were home safe and sound |

Aweee... I think we all understand what it's like to be away from our dogs and how much it sucks. We have our little fingers and toes crossed that today will go by fast so you can go get Tasker!! |
Oh Ginny, I would be pacing the floors! I have terrible separation anxiety from my dogs. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes safely and smoothly. |
Keep the faith, Ginny. Tasker will be fine. Although I would be a nervous wreck, too! |
Ginny, sending warm fuzzy thoughts, big sloppy sheepie kisses and belly rubs to Tasker. I don't blame you either as I'd want my boy home where you can have him close by.
Hope he's home soon! Marianne |
Ginny---Boy!! Do I know what you are feeling today (along with everyone else).
The last time I took Pearl in for some cyst removals, as I was signing, I noticed the list of drugs that would be used and one was Valium.... I asked the receptionist, if that was for me..since I would be a wreck all day until she was home where she belonged.... |
I'd be nervous, too, Ginny. We'll all feel better when he's home tonight, all safe & sound. |
I'll be thinking positive thoughts for sweet Tasker today! |
Good thoughts all day for Tasker boy. He will be fine...
Just concentrate on your test today....and know that your bubby is in good hands!! xoxoxox |
I'm sure Tasker will be fine, with beautiful teeth to show off in a few hours. I'll be thinking of him today... |
Sending you and Tasker good thoughts today. |
Good luck today Tasker!!!
Hang in there Ginny. Isn't today your rescheduled test too?? |

Hang in there Ginny. Isn't today your rescheduled test too?? Yup! In fact I think Doug is going to haveto pick him up from the Vet because I have to leave for my exam by 5:00. I asked the Vet to PLEASE call me as soon as they were done (no call yet) so I hope I hear something before I have to leave. |
I thought it was today. I remember the conversation about the weather, the test, Tasker's surgery and my daughter flying home from new York.
Lisa did call me. She is at LaGuardia, on the plane, with her sedated min pin boy Spike with her as carryon. She has a window seat, and there is a guy on the aisle. She hopes no one has the seat in the middle, as she wants to sneak Spike out of the carry crate and snuggle him in her lap. One of our bassets had surgery on a day I had nursing clinicals (way back in history). I was a basket case, but glad I had a distraction so I didn't go crazy! Go Tasker! |
Be sure to let us know when your daughter and Grandpuppy arrive safely!!! |
Hugs to Tasker and Ginny. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you! |
Mony & Laci send wet kisses to Tasker. Keep yourself busy to occupy your time. He'll be ok. |
When are we expecting an update? |
No news yet I really thoght I would hear something. I'm giving them til 2:00 then calling. |
I'm sure he'll be fine, Tasker is a tough kid!
We're keepin our paws crossed for an uneventful surgery and recovery! |
C'mon Tasker!
Easy Ginny.... |
I called. They were just getting ready to take him to surgery. Wondering why I had to get him there at 8:00 AM when they haven't even started by 2:15
Also find it annoying that they KNOW I want him to come home tonight and they put him off til afternoon. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
Oh, I don't blame you, I would be ticked too.
Good luck Tasker! Hope all goes well. |
Awww....hang in there, he'll be home soon, all fresh-breathed and needing Mama snuggles. |
So I called again a few minutes ago (they were supposed to call me ) and got told OH he's been done for awhile, he's all tucked in his crate and doing fine. WHich is wonderful but I've been pacing for two hours.
I said, WHEN can we pick him up. The person said OH TOMORROW. NO I SAID I AM BRINGING HIM HOME TONIGHT. She put me on hold for the longest time, came back and said we could get him at 6 I don't understand leaving a sedated dog in a crate UNATTENDED over night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to leave in just a few minutes for my exam but Doug will go get him and at least he will be here when I get home. |
Oh good! I'm glad he pulled through fine! And I bet both you and Tasker will feel better with him being home tonight. Good luck on your exam and give Tasker a rub from me! |
So glad you didn't let them walk over you after already letting them know. Frustrates me! Good to hear things went well!! |
I should think a vet would know better than to leave you hanging like that . There is nothing worse than waiting for news, especially since you also have your test tonight( which I'm sure you'll score 100% on!).

Glad it all went well with Tasker Ginny, give that special boy a huge hug from us.
Best wishes for the test too, go girl go |
I am glad to hear that in spite of the communication glitches today, that Tasker is done and all OK. Good for you to insist he comes home tonight also.
I don't understand why they would want him to stay overnight in an empty vet office. It is apparently a common practice. They tried to suggest the same thing to a friend of mine. Her dog was ill with vomiting and diarrhea, and they wanted him to stay overnight at the office. When she found out he would be all alone, she refused. Thankfully my vet knows that would never fly! Lisa and Spike made it home fine. She left him in the crate, as he slept the whole time. Going out to supper now. |
Glad to hear Lisa and Grand pup made it home!!!! PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm home, Tasker is home it's BEEN A GOD AWFUL DAY!!!!!!!!! He actually looks pretty good except for the stiches and bobo's. They parctically shaved his entire leg for the IV. His head is also all greasy and wet, don't know what THAT'S about. Can't wait to bathe him, not sure when I can get the stitches wet. My test was HORRIBLE, worse than I even imagined it would be. I am pretty sure I passed but I wont' be bragging about THAT grade Many of the questions were totally ambiguous with two right answers..... you just had to figure out which answer the STATE thought was "righter". My head started pounding about 2 hours in and I wasn't sure I'd survive. Now I have to wait 4 weeks for the results. Tasker and I are goint to be. I wish I had a bottle of WINE in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Wow! What a day it's been for you!
Glad that Tasker is home and in good care. Now you NEED to relax. Been working hard and lots of stress. A great night to snuggle the pups and kick back. How far is the closest liquor store? |
Never mind: the day is over. |
Ginny,
I am so happy to hear that Tasker is home and doing well. Please give him a and from me. Sorry your test sucked, but at least it's OVER! I know you passed. |
Mercy sakes alive, what a day you've had!! Glad it's over and all went well with Tasker, despite the poor communication from the vet's office.
Hope you slept well and are having a better day today. |
Boo. At least the day is over and Tasker is home safe with you! |
Oh...I'm so glad you both made it through. Now, its a new day. Huggle each other! |
Ginny give that big ole boy a big kiss on the nose for me. (Say that quickly three times! )
I can totally relate to your post as it happened to me within the last couple weeks when I had Panda at the vets. Same scenerio..supposed to bring him in early, nothing done when I called at 2:15 and I freeked when they said maybe bring him back tomorrow? Urg..this was Panda they were talking about! I stood my ground and insisted no and they complied. Even if it meant they had to stay late and then I brought my boy home. Sometimes we moms have to be "itchy" for the sake of our furkids. I don't blame you one bit for being a bit peeved and of course it's all about dear old Tasker and what's best for him. Glad you brought him home as especially with those seniors it's not always the physical but the their emotional well being too. I'm glad he was home with his family. Good luck on your test results! Marianne |
Nurses make the worst patients.
I'm sorry your test was ambiguous (I HATE that!) and I hope Tasker feels better and better every hour! |
I emailed my instructor today telling her how terrible it was and she emailed me back saying she ALWAYS thinks she has failed a State Exam but that in a couple days when the fear and frustration die down I'll feel better about it. We'll see
Tasker was just fine last night, SOOOOOOO happy to be in his own bed (he told me). This morning you wouldn't have known he had anything done. I really want to bathe him because he's such a mess but am worried about the stitches. I may just go ahead and dry him. |
Glad to hear Tasker is back to "normal"...demeanor wise, at least.
As far as bathing...could you just use baby wipes or a wet wash cloth to clean him as as best as possible until the stitches are better? |
Im sure you did fine Ginny, usually the smart kids in class that worry about the test are the ones who aced it.......and you be one of the smarties!!!!
Im so glad tasker is doing well!! you should put his bangs into a mohawk for a new do ...... give him kisses from his twin sister...... |
