The only issue I know of that can be linked to the whiteness of a merle or piebald dog is deafness. And the risk of sunburn.

The only thing I am aware of is that snowcaps (white heads and ears) are more prone to deafness. |
I think this is a myth about many dogs.
I know the same is said of boxers but is not necessarily true. Some animals are effected blindness but this is because the retna in the eye is lighter so the sunlight damages more then it would in a dark coated dark eyed dog. |
