I have just purchased a product called "The Invisible Boot". It is a creamy waxy substance that comes in a jar, and you just take a little scoop of it and rub it on all the pads (and in between if you're ever worried about ice). It helps as a preventitive measure against abrasive roads and also heals any dryness. It's completely natural and safe should your dog decide to take a taste (our friend's dog was so busy licking Tucker's paws as I was applying it that I had to do some over again!).
Maybe this would help? There are also different brands of boots - some are more comfortable for one dog than another. Have you tried a different make? |
My pups are the same way. even only 15 minutes at the park and they are all torn up. One of the vets I work with recommended "Padtuff". I dont know who it is made by but I am going to give it a try when I get it next. |
You could try mushers wax although it may be similar to what's already been mentioned. |
I've just been reading about Paw pads cracking. Do you use omega oils in your older sheepies diet?.
It recommends that to help with pads cracking. Cold pressed Flax Seed Oil is great, about 1tsp over there meal of an evening. Helps coat and skin as well. Try that along with some sort of protective paw wax on the pads in the meantime till the omega oil kicks in Let's know if it helps with the pads. |
