The new owner is wonderful but wants to change the chip information. Is there any way to get around this? |

Remove the old chip and put in a new one? |

I would agree with this. And also be VERY careful the old owner doesn't find out otherwise there can be some crazy legal troubles! |
Hi,
I once got a rescue dog (Panda) that had a microchip from his first owner and had it changed to mine. As long as the new owner had the former owners address - (which the vet would have along with the chip number) you can contact the chip company and have the new info placed in their computers. The only thing that would be a bit dicey if for whatever reason if the company called former owners to confirm. I don't think they would even question it as usually only animal shelters and vets would be able to read the chip and know info regarding the dog. They didn't even question it in my case, as I had info regarding former owners address and chip number. You can get the sheet for the microchip change at a vets office in which you send cash into the company (less than it cost for a microchip but $ for them to change info). Hope that helps and good luck! Marianne |
Do you know why the owner wanted this dog put down? I'm just curious. Glad he/she has a good home. I don't have any advice about the chip deal, but hope it goes ok. |
