My NYS Skills exam today. Took almost all day but I passed 14 stations on the FIRST TRY. Only one other person in the group passed all 14 stations without a retest. I'm EXHAUSTED, came home (well actually came to the Firehouse cause I'm on duty this weekend) and cried This stuff gets harder as you get older! I still have the written exam on Thursday but that should be a piece of cake after today. YIPPEE!!!! I plan to spend the rest of tonight doing NOTHING (unless of course we have a call ) Then tomorrow it's time to crack open the books and start to review. |

Praise Jesus!!!!
Thank goodness that is over with!!! I am SO proud of you!!!! keep it up....and do try to relax tonight!! |
Nice work!!! You even get a WooHoo!!!!
Don't underestimate the written exam. Read the questions carefully, don't read into them and go with your first instinct. (When in doubt, the answer is C!) |

Well done Ginny now do we call you "Brainiac"?
Best wishes with the written exam, go girl go. |

If you are doing okay and the patient suddenly goes unresponsive, it's probably the airway. When in doubt, non-rebreather. If you're really in doubt, tube 'em!!!! A BP cuff around the neck cures all problems!!! |
Congrats to you, Ginny!!!! WooHooo!!!!
I hope you have a quiet weekend. Ours was super busy last night - I hope the ER settles down tonight. |
I've always thought the lab tests were harder than the written. So a huge congrats!
But a little fear of the written test is a healthy thing too. And base your answer on the info given, not your experience - and that's hard to do. |
Congratulations! |
YAY FOR GINNY!!!!!!! But was there really any doubt? |
Way to go Ginny! |
Quote: BP cuff around the neck cures all problems Yep, that will solve many problems.

Don't be silly. When in doubt, blame dispatch.

You Go Girl !!!!!!!!!! Antoinette |
Congratulations Ginny! Knew you could do it! |
Thanks everyone!!! I've taken today and Thursday off to study for the written. Today will most likely be an all day study day (except when I have to check the forum of course). Thursday will be a little review but mostly just relax and mentally "prepare". It should not be too hard, it is mostly "common sense" with some odd bits of knowledge thrown in. The problem is you never know what odd bits of knowledge the State is going to focus on this time |
Yay! Congratulations!! |
So tonight is my written exam. I took today off to just "chill", not really study just relax and get in the "mood".
We are expecting a HUGE snow storm starting about mid morning, 8-12 inches of snow. Most of the local schools have already cancelled. The exam is being given at Tompkins Cortland Community College about 20 miles away, right in the snow belt. I really REALLY want to get this over with. Please keep your fingers crossed that the exam isn't postponed |
fingers crossed!!!! |
The College was closed as of 10:30 this morning so I am pretty sure the exam has been cancelled I'm waiting to hear when it's rescheduled. This really REALLY SUCKS.
Last night I went to bed and thougth, "this time tomorrow it will be over" NOT! |
That bites!
I just talked w/ my daughter Lisa in Newburgh, NY and their schools are all cancelled too. She nannies - so she is home with the 11 y.o twins. (Yes, a twin nannying for twins!) Lisa finished her finals yesterday so she is more than happy to stay home and chill with the boys. |
Exam officially rescheduled for NEXT Tuesday. crap
Tasker's suregery is next Tuesday, I'll have enough to worry about. |
That is bad timing for you. Darn storm!
Lisa is flying home for the holidays on Tuesday - I think the weather is supposed to be decent.....small consolation, I know.. |
Oh Drat!! That really bites for you Ginny. |
Sorry Ginners!! that sucks!! |
Ggggrrrrrrrrrrr!! |
Can ya reschedule the surgery?
(Thank you Mr. Obvious) |
That's horrible. Hang in there!!! *fingers crossed* |
