Oh No! Another "stage"

What has happened to my sheepie? Obviously someone took my sweet, well behaved Bailey and replaced him with this hyper, I'll-chew-on-anything monster. He's nearly three, so I guess it's time for another challenge to my pack leadership. Timing couldn't be worse, and the big victim has been...my Christmas tree!

For his first two Christmases Bailey was completely disinterested in the trees. I have two - one in the living room, one in the family room. The one in the living room directly impaired his ability to see out the front window. Even that didn't phase him - he'd just lean around it. No problems.

This year I thought would be even better - there was no room in the living room for the tree because we got a pool table :D So the tree is away from the window, all should be good in Bailey's world. Nope! He's been grabbing ornaments off the family room tree and tearing them apart. (Not eating them, just playing with them, then leaving the tattered bits) Since I've never seen him do this, I have to assume it happens at night or when no one is here. Dumb move on his part, because I am a HUGE Christmas fan and the ornaments on that tree are the ones I've collected on my travels. He couldn't have picked a worse target.

Now both my husband and "his" dog are feeling my wrath. Out came the bottle of Bitter Apple that I haven't used for two years  And Bailey now has to stay in his crate every time I leave the house. Last night we made him sleep in our room with the door closed - oh boy did he hate that! And my husband, who had gotten very lax about morning walks, has been warned that he's not to miss a walk between now and Christmas. (A tired dog is a well behaved dog.) I WILL NOT SCALE BACK MY CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS! YOU WILL OBEY ME!

Challenge MY leadership? Mwah ha ha ha!

LOL     Ya gotta luv 'em~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go Sue!

You have me scared now - Harry tore up a card from the OES exchange in my absence the other day. I am not sure why - I hoped it had fallen on the floor and he had not chosen to take it down from the windowsill. Like Bailey, he just tore it up like a game. But I hate to think that he might suddenly decide to mess with stuff that he never messed with before.
   Bailey is going through a 2nd puppy hood 8O

Kick hubby out of bed and hand him the lead

Gotta luv a naughty sheepie :P

Maybe it was just a dog he didn't like.

And I can say that knowing it wasn't Clyde since mine haven't been sent out yet!
Oh, Sue I can just imagine him having a blast with the ornaments!:D

We are buying our Christmas tree tomorrow.
Oh no.... not good Bailey!

We decided against a tree last year because we knew Hayley would be pulling stuff off the tree and getting into everything.
The year before we were in NJ so no tree then.
We've only had a tree around Pepsi for one year.... in 2004.
He has already freaked out with the Christmas wreath this year.... I wonder how he'll be with a tree.... Should be interesting.
I am sure Lacey will be munching on lower branches. That silly terrier loves to chew anything she can.
I have no idea how Rags will be at all, since we have never had her around a tree.
So not only do I have to worry about the dogs, but I am sure Hayley will be causing trouble.
I used to have a dog that had false pregnancies. At the end of her "term" she would adopt something as her baby. One year it was a camel from the Nativity set. She wouldn't let anyone but me near the Christmas tree.
It was the best year for decorating 'cause everything stayed put!

Elissa: I had to laugh when I read your posting...I have two Faux Christmas Trees and the one in the living room, as soon as I put it up, Pearl our cat came in and starting chewing on the bottom branches. China likes to lay under it and nap. :) (they have both stopped by now)
The problem seems to be halted for now - I think it was going on in the middle of the night when he was bored. Now that he's trapped in our room at night, no more ornaments have been "relocated". I'm sure it helps that I wave the Bitter Apple bottle around any time he gets too close! We also got a few of his old toys out to keep him entertained, like the Everlasting Treat Ball. Remember those? It got stuck in the closet a while back, so now it's his favorite toy again.

Discipline. Exercise. Bribery
