We got Big Cheese when he was 5 weeks old, he was the cutest thing! Gilbert (the collie) was about 11 months old then, so they quickly became buddies! Where ever Gilbert went, Biggy was close behind! They are our house dogs. And by far the most spolied! We also have a male and female Blue Heeler, 2 female dalmation/heeler cross (mom and daughter), and are babysitting a large boxer/mastiff type dog for a friend. Not to mention all the barn cats, rabbits, horses, donkey, ect. We are definalty animal people and probably spend more money on pet food than our food! But isn't it suppose to be that way on a farm? I really had never been around the Sheepdog bred until I met a friends dog. She had the best personality, friendly and loving! But after we got Big Cheese, I can not believe I never had one before! By far the best breed I've ever been around. We have had a lot of herding dogs around the farm, and they drive me nuts! Always chasing something, sneaking around getting into trouble. But the sheepie, well, he hasn't done that yet! (knock on wood!!) He's a pretty laid back kind of fellow. With his moments of great excitement. Mostly early in the morning, before coffee! I was surprised the grooming wasn't as bad as I expected. We had him shaved this summer, as he loves to be outside running after the 4 wheeler and he was getting to hot. But it's finally growing back. He loves to get dirty, and is constantly coming home with burrs in his hair. But he's pretty calm about me picking all the burrs out! The collie by far is the hairist thing I have ever had in my house! Guess that's why Biggie isn't so bad!!! Thanks, look forward to meeting all of you! God Bless!!! |

Welcome from Central Florida. I loved your story of the dogs on the farm. The pics of Biggy/Gilbert are adorable. I have an OES Violet and an Aussie Shepherd China. I wouldn't trade either for the world. |

How cool! Another Hoosier sheepie
We're about an hour from Madison in Greensburg. Hmmmmmm....... doggie play dates or an Indiana Sheepie Event??? Nita, Nelson Jr. and Sassy |
I'm guessing we are about less than an hour from Greensburg, give or take. We've been thinking about getting another one, but not sure I can handle another big moose in the house! We're pretty dog-proof, but they still find things to knock over!! |
Welcome to the forum!!! Oh, it seems you are living my dream! I can't wait to be able to buy a farm!
