I'm not sure if this is the right category for my question, but I'll start here anyway. We have a two-year-old male OES. He's a great dog, loves the kids and is pretty much your typical OES. We just found out that we can spend 2 months next summer in Europe. This is an incredible opportunity for my whole family, but the biggest problem is of course what to do with our dog. We have friends who have dogs, but we can't ask anyone to take him for two months. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of a kennel that would take dogs for that long? I can't leave him in an ordinary kennel where they have to stay in a lot and don't get to be with people (not to mention that in this area they are about $50 per night). I suppose one option would be a house-sitter who is comfortable with dogs. What do you think, has anyone experience about leaving his or her dog for this long? |

I would like to help out if possible. I live in Peoria, IL. |
I think the idea of a house-sitter is good, because it also takes care of the problem of leaving your home empty for so long. Also, most dogs feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings. You have lots of time...maybe you could start looking now, and have time for whoever it is to get to know your dog. Summer is often a time when college students need a place to live. |
