HEART!! She decided to get up an hour earlier than normal-- which is a LATE 5AM. (She goes to bed at about 11-12-- BH(before Heart) I would be snoozing by 10). Anyway--I was reading and responding to all the posts, (not much to do at this unDOGly hour) and I sense Heart doing "something". I turn around and there she is, in all her glory, shredding Dino's wallet....OMG!!!!! All of his credit cards have deep bite marks on them, his Drivers License had the same toothprints and a corner is completely bitten off. His 6 business cards are unrecognizable (ms). Thank DOG!! She only shredded a dollar..(he had 2 -20's not touched, at that point!). This happened in about 5 minutes!!!!! So-- I carefully put everything back in the wallet, placed it on the table wayyy in the back, and am waiting for him to wake up, get ready for work, pick up his wallet to put in his pocket..........and ?????????????????????????????? (gosh, I hope he doesn't notice ....yah think????) This princess puppy has 26 stuffies....8 hard bones...3 kongs....2 live dogs.......TV...... tuffet in front of the fire............to AMUSE HER HIGHNESS WITH...............and she picks an old (after 5 minutes with her, a MUCH older and worn) wallet and hard plastic. Now, even while she was in the midst of teething a couple months ago, she did not chew on inappropriate things--She will be 6 months old on Sunday, I really thought that since she has never "chewed" before this, I was out of the woods. BAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! (not). The thing is, as clumsy and puppyish as Heart acts, she is as quiet as a churchmouse when she is getting into things. She sneaks around-- I swear she tiptoes, not an easy task with those "boats" of hers. (I think we are beginning a new chapter in the "Life of Heart" book.......) |
|
I'm trying REALLY HARD not to laugh.........bad Heart bad |
LOL I know the tiptoe thing! |
Nothing like coming here in the AM and getting a laugh. Not funny on your, part but to read LOL. Yes amazing how quiet they can be when THEY want. Thanks for the story. |
Its when they are quiet you have to be on your guard! |
Val, get your camera. I think you're about to see a grown man cry! I can see him at the gas pump now. Car's on empty. I pulls out his credit card. The pump rejects it. "@$%*&#". He goes inside to the ATM to get some cash to buy gas with - ATM rejects debit card. "BooHoo".
Let me know if Heart needs a safe haven until the storm passes. |
(he noticed) |
George:
Quote: "@$%*&#".
( his EXACT words)--very loud......... He is now chasing her around the room, yelling..."Get on the tuffet!!!" "Bad dog!!!!" She is running, she thinks its a game...She is trying to get to me but he keeps blocking her.... He will leave for work soon.....There will be peace in the house again..... (Heart will be entered into the witness protection program...She will change her name to "Muffin" and she will have to color her hair a mousy brown.) |
I love the witness protection program comment. How funny. Murphy is five months now. He can be very quiet and tip toe - these are the times that scare me the most. I cannot take my eyes off him. however, in a split second he can get into things i did not know were even around. I was hoping this was getting close to passing but Heart is six months - so I have more time with the tip toe puppy. |

Bawhahaha! Oh, sorry. Probably not THAT funny. I'd say she and Sybil are related, except for the fact that this sneaking around seems to be a pretty universal OES puppy thing. I'd blame it on Sybil's breeder, but, oh, wait - I AM her breeder. Bummer. There goes that excuse I've noticed with those of mine who are dedicated chewers that they seem to reach a stage where they don't just chew, they chew their favorite person's things - i.e. I think they are attracted to the scent of that person, and then forget what they're doing and starting chewing and...At least that's what I used to tell my Mom when my first OES quite obviously sought out her items for special chomp-chomp treatment. "Ah, it's just 'cause she loves you, Mom!" (No, she didn't buy it either ) But, yes, when I notice the house becoming exceptionally quiet, I go into full alert mode until I find the offender (and the remains of the offendee). It's usually Sybil... Last night's score: toilet paper rolls - 0, Sybil - 7 Some idiot left the door to the bathroom open. Oh, wait! That idiot would be me <sigh>. It looked like it had snowed in the living room. Five minutes. That's all it took. She did have a little help from her friends in the shredding department. Kristine |

Not to scare you, but try 19 mos and counting... Kristine |
Daisy likes to get the spent TP rolls out of the bathroom trash can. I simply take them away and give her a toy she is allowed to have. She always looks at me as if to say "nobody wanted those anyway, what's the big deal? Sometimes I swear she rolls her eyes at me. |
omg that is funny, My two have gotten my daughters and Davis before and took them out side for a few days before they noticed. Teeth makers in wallets but everything inside. And yup they were mad, BUT do not leave nothing on end table, there height to them free stuff. |
im sorry...i dont mean to laugh....but this really made my morning.....
poor heart-heart! |
Poor Dino. You are lucky Val that he didn't tell you to sit on the tuffet and call you "bad" for not watching her. |
I'm telling ya, it's something in the air... Last night as I was watching a movie, Dodger jumped off the couch, and for the first time since the week we brought him home, began chewing on the carpet. My husband went to get him away, and the carpet was stuck in between him remaining baby teeth... So now there's a little snag in the carpet.
Besides that, he's started to dig in the backyard when he's let out. I thought he was bored, so I've been more diligent about walking him. Now he sleeps in the house, then goes outside and digs... |
I am always amazed at the difference in the way Bella walks around a room. Some times when she is just walking it feels like we have three dogs and a horse in the house not just a one year old sheepie. At other times, especially when she has taken something she shouldn’t, she can walk by and I don’t think her feet hit the floor she’s so quiet. That when, if were lucky, one of us goes to the dog door to block it off and the other goes to Bella to find out what she has. Quiet puppies are usually up to mischief. |
6 months is only the beginning..... |

Well, in fairness, it does depend on the dog. I can't remember the last time the Evil Child's sister, Macy, did anything wrong. She hasn't been crated in forever, day or night. She started sleeping loose when she was six months old. She doesn't chew. No potty accidents. The three other resident puppies (incl rescue dog) can be going nuts around her while she rests at my feet. She might countersurf given enough incentive, but then so would Perfect Dog (Belle). I consider her the Anti-Sybil. Now, does she get a lot of "press" here on the forum? Any credit for good behavior? NOPE. That's boring, right? See, it really doesn't pay to be good. Part of me thinks no OES puppy can be THAT good and she's just saving it up for the REALLY BIG CAPER. And it won't be pretty... Only time will tell. Kristine & The "Good" Puppy |
I know it's not funny but...... . I just got back from the library, had to pay for an audiobook cover one of the dynamic duo chewed on |
einy takes the finished toilet roll tubes out of the trash too.
must be a sheepie thing but i think they chew stuff always einys 3 and he stil chews things his lates thnik is to go into the play room and quitely ver very quietly take one of my sons toy cars and very very slowly talk off with it. zoe and einy |
I need to know, Val - did Heart damage the cards beyond use????
I can just imagine your husband when he found his billfold. I have trouble picturing a human as a Dino. It is the name of my son's minpin. He has super big attitude and is a hoot. Life is never dull with Dino around. Kristine - maybe Macy is just waiting for you to put in a pond???? |
Quote: Kristine--- I need to know, Val - did Heart damage the cards beyond use???? Yes...the credit cards have just enough teethprints in just the right places to make them VERY hard, if not impossible to use.......... Quote: I have trouble picturing a human as a Dino. WOW!!!! That is MY Dino to a 'T'.................. He's a big, barrotoned Italian boy......(very) hard worker...........quick to "temper out"........quick to calm down.............Heart has his number....there was no fear as he was yelling at her, for her........... She just looked at him like........."OMG!!!! Dad wants to play! COOL !!""""""" |

BITE YOUR TONGUE, WOMAN!!!! Oh, evil, evil, thought!!! KB |
Val, this is funny! I'm sorry it happened but I'm glad to see that you know how much fun Heart had when Daddy "played chase" with her.
The forbidden "fruit" always tastes better. |
Kata-----I am having a ball with her................
(although I have to admit, if it was my wallet, maybe I wouldn't be so amused. ) |
Oh Val........... I am so sorry! So today she is Heart and going into Witness Protection........ not Jelly anymore?! lol
Well, she and Checkers can go together............ Checkers chewed a hole in Norm's only GOOD bathrobe! I covered the crate with it this morning to TRY to get them to go back to sleep. I found half of it pulled through one of those TINY LITTLE BITTY holes.......... and shredded....... now, norm hasn't been home that much in the past 3 years.......... i'm hoping he won't recognize he has a different robe this time!!! OH MY...... ps......... i just knew her 'perfectness' would have to end sooner or later!! love ali |

(he'll NOTICE, believe me!!!) Now THEY may not notice If WE get a new haircut or haircolor.......but their precious bathrobe (or wallet????)....comeon....................... |
I laughed so much. I needed a good laugh. Carley is now almost 10 months old. Last week she chewed through the cord on the Spot Bot- you know the one we use to clean up her accidents. She also chewed through the roaster cord so that I could not cook my turkey breast in it. We are painting and she keeps chewing up the sanding blocks. It seems as though she is getting into more lately than she did when she was younger.
Maybe it is just that she can reach more now. |
Great story. Had to read it to my husband because he wanted to know what I was laughing about. What would we do without our sheepies??? |
I think the sheepies are after the man stuff. Daids slippers outside today frozen to the ground -30. Still there. |
(sounds like a sheepie thing....) |
ej, that is sooooo (I'm sorry!)

(although I have to admit, if it was my wallet, maybe I wouldn't be so amused. ) Val, I'm glad! It is interesting how Boni has never stolen or chewed on any of my things. Though when I was in Hungary for 6 weeks, he did chew on Charlie's glasses, phone, electric cords and chewed the wood for the fireplace into tiny little pieces WHILE he was at home!!!! |

It is funny..why the pick on just one person???? Again...I guess it's a sheepie thing..you only hurt the one you love, kind of thing..... |
Lol! Forgotten to mention that they NEVER wake me up! Only Daddy. |
Val, I had a bad weekend....this was such a laugh for me. They are soooo cute because of their quirks.
Chaunce has an unusual fetish. I have a favorite pair of slip on shoes. He will locate them and if possible, take only the right shoe and remove the insole. He has done this for over a year. He does not chew the shoe or the insole, just remove it and I will find it near him???? |
This is a great discussion.Isn't this why we love this breed.
Please no boring sheepie for me.I like them a little mischevious. The more clownish the better. Hey Carol you will learn all you can do is laugh, this is typical sheepdog behaviour. I'm not saying, they should not listen and obey, but throw in a little spunk, curiosity, mischief,a tad of selective hearing, happy go lucky personality and last but not least,a snuggle bunny and that is my ideal sheepie. Of course we all know they are too smart for their own good. |

This is EXACTLY how I feel.....Now she is a puppy...and I don't know how I will feel when she is 5 years old and still doing this ... BUT for now........ I just sit here and laugh at her........I find my "unmentionables" outside for all the world to see...I wonder...How the H@@ did she get THAT!!! But then, I look at that adorable face (you see I didn't say eyes, cuz I can't see them) and her expression says to me ..."boy, am I having fun!!!!!!" with her head cocked to one side, and a big smile ---how can anyone get mad at that??? I am having so much fun with her and because of her!!!! |
Both of my sheepies take my daughters unmentionables always hers She almost died when there were boys at the house and the dogs were tug a war on her BRAS |
Murphjy is a clown and that is the best part. The laughter he has provided me has gotten me through tough times. The love he gives me is unbelievable. I still love my shih tzu but the sheepies have won my heart as well. Never a dull moment here, but all good laughs. |

Pippy grew out of that habit at about age 3; but she was just like Chauncey ... only one slipper, and she'd just remove the insole. I'm kinda glad she outgrew that ... finding the slippers and putting them back together on a cold morning isn't convenient. But we don't get these dogs because they're convenient ... gotta love this breed |
