looking for an adult oes
 I don't really want a puppy because there are dogs in need. I'm in no hurry. Any suggestions? I've offered to help foster too but there aren't any in this area in need. |

Where are you located? Keep trying all the rescue sites . It may be a slow process, but keep trying. Have you considered a sheepie mix? |
| I'm on the Mississippi gulf coast. I know it'll take awhile for the right one. No hurry. I just want to know what maybe available. I prefer a spayed female because I have two small fixed male dogs and I know female sheepies tend to be smaller in size then males. I've heard mixed reviews about adult vs puppy. I'd like an adult because there are some in need of homes and no puppy phase. I'd consider a senior too. I'll just wait and help with rescue if I'm ever needed. I think that is wonderful that you are interested in an older OES. Have you had sheepies before or experienced them in connection with your young children? I know that every situation - kids and dogs - is different, but OES are definately of the herding breed, and many times see young children as something that needs to be herded. There are certainly ways to train both on how to deal with this trait, but the reason that Rescue is concerned is that too many times people turn in OES because they just can't deal with them and their kids too. Have you tried contacting www.NEOESR.org and Grannie Annie? I am a member of this Rescue group, and though I have not done any work with fostering or adopting a rescue, I know there are so many wonderful people there who have much experience and may be able to help you with your great offer. Another thing you might want to do is to call your local shelters and put in your name if there is an OES that comes in to have them call you. Please let us know of your progress. | Hello- I have a 5-6 years old spayed female looking for a permant loving home. I resued her from pound 2 weeks ago and have decided not to keep her.
