Have been reading all the posts for a few weeks and meant to wait until next week to send this introductory post but just couldnt wait to tell you the news. Ok from the beginning........ Im in Manchester UK and due to give a home to a rescue OES later this week. Im both excited and apprehensive. He is a gorgeous 18month old with a sad start to life - taken in by RSPCA. I wont give too many details as they are not very good but they involve a great deal of neglect ( not violence Im told) We have met this boy and he looks good now, a 'bit of a handful' but has been with a foster home for a few weeks. They say he is housetrained but needs to learn some manners and how to behave on a lead. Im told there is no aggression - hes just a bit of a wild boy at the moment because so much exciting is happening to him. I know it wont all be easy so Im hoping for advice and support from this group Im Val by the way and OH is Tony. Both just retired at 60 - loads of time and energy ( yes I know we will need it ) Our last dog Casey was a much loved and much missed bearded collie who was also a resue so hopefully some of the things we learned with him will help us this time. Looking forward to chatting to you all and will post some pics once he is home with us |

Welcome from sunny Florida, USA. Thank you for resuing the sheepie boy. My Violet was a rescue at 9mts old we just celebrated her 5th Birthday. At first he may be a handful, but there is a lot of advise on the torum if you look through the different subjects, and everyone has good advise. I will be looking forward to seeing pics and hearing about your boy. Good luck! You know sheepies are like potato chips, they are hard to have just one. |

Hello and welcome from Norfolk! Looking forward to pictures of your new sheepie. Do you have a name for him? |
Many thanks for the welcome. What a friendly group you are !
For those who asked - we decided that it would be new-life-new-name so our lad will be Ollie - similar to old name but just different enough. To Val ( sheepieshake) sounds like parallel lives - wonder what else we have in commmon Did you find that sheepies are different to beardies ( or just bigger)? Hopefully have pics this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for an easy hand over for us all. |
