Since my girl has done so well at shows my next intention is to breed with her, I have studied a few dogs and chosen "Zecret Zorro aus den Elbe-Urstromtal" the reason being is I want to breed a type of dog I like, they should resemble the OES as much as possible, the conditions I set myself were both dogs must be HD free, they must have recently been tested for eye illnesses and have been passed as clear, they should be friendly, faithful no sign of aggression at all, strong boned and have the proper substance as well as big teeth strong jaws and plenty of pigment at the eyes, another thing I am looking for is proper textured coats, this I have in my bitch and in the dog I am going to use. I know this is no guarantee of success but I can honestly say I done my best to breed healthy OES's |

Just a thought from someone who knows absolutely nothing about how to properly breed dogs...
Also do a careful study of the history of the adults to be bred to make sure there has never been any hereditary canine ataxia in any siblings, parents, grandparents, etc... http://www.caninegeneticdiseases.net/ataxia/ I would think full panel thyroid testing would be prudent too since hypothyroidism is prevalent in this breed and can affect the survival of pups according to Dr. Dodds... "...weak, dying or stillborn pups..." http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-ang ... isease.htm But again, I'm not a breeder. It's only what I myself would do if I chose to breed. |
