If you haven't been to Oklahoma, you are missing out on a wonderful place with some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I can hardly wait to retire and move back home. |

Just don't get a nosebleed. |
My great-grandparents ran in the Cherokee Strip land rush. The old family photos show 1000's of folks from men on foot & horseback to families in wagons in this huge cloud of dust, all racing to claim their little plot of land.
Go sooners ("Sooners" were people that sneaked into the land rush area to claim the good lots ahead of the official starting gun). Taken from Jean's incredible book of useless knowledge. |
Congratulations Oklahoma! Also thank you for the bits of of history. |
I learn something new everyday. Happy 100th. Also now know what a sooner is. |
The Centennial celebrations have been so much fun! Yesterday was the "official" statehood day, and the events culminated with a huge star-studded performance including a lot of Oklahoma-born singers, actors and sports figures. We went to the official centennial parade a few weeks ago and it was great. |
