Ever since then, her nipples have never really gone back to a "normal" size. There is a tendency, especially in winter, for her to develop mats all around them . She is quite touchy (understandably!!!!) about being groomed in that area. Last night I went a little too far and got bit . Ok...it was just a nip really....and I felt so bad about what I had done (snagged a nipple with the comb) that I almost wanted to offer her my hand to bite! Any suggestions about how to either prevent these kinds of mats, of how to more gently remove them? I'd hate to have to just shave her belly in winter! |

when you brush her, have you tried laying her down on her side one step below you...then your leg can go over her neck area (bent, not actually touching her) then brush her belly away from you gently, holding down her coat while you do it...soft small strokes
this is how i do pandas belly and since i dont have a table, her being one step below gives me some leverage and control over her...... |
Oh poor baby and oh poor you. You sound like you care very much. I'm sure you are being careful. Hopefully she will slowly heal and get more comfortable with the grooming. I wish you luck! |
Yuki is REAL sensitive to tummy brushing too. I feel more comfortable just clipping all that area with scissors. :/ |
I don't try to even mess with Oliver "private" area. We have that area shaved and his belly shaved when groomed. Takes less time to brush him, no pee stains, and he loves the cold floor on his belly. |
Oh, I'm sorry to hear this! I hope you are both okay!
I roll Boni on his back, his legs are spread so I can brush his "fütyi" and his belly. I also do this after a long walk or run so he falls asleep while I brush him. And since I don't have a grooming table I also have to do this on the floor. |
Could you tire her out and gently sissor clip around her nipples?? |
As I told you in person, every woman has probably read this with her arms crossed. |
