Poker After Dark, Phil Helmuth
Phil Helmuth has 10 (count'em) 10 "bracelets" or championships in the type of poker. I don't know if Howard has any. Phil frequently mentions his 10 bracelets; or should I say many people always mention phil's bracelets. That's the background. At one point last night, Phil was telling Howard that he needed to "think outside the box" more in his style of play. This went back and forth for quite some time. Finally after winning a hand Howard said "Maybe if I had thought outside the box I could have earned more there." Phils said (essentially): "Look, I know how you think. I understand. I used to play inside the box like you, but I only won 3 or 4 of my bracelets playing that way." ROFL! HAHAHA! I nearly fell off the couch. GOOD ONE, Phil! |

| Howard has 2 bracelets and a couple of titles but, in terms of actual monetary winnings, I'm not sure who has won more. Howard (and his sister Annie Duke) have played for a long time. Phil Helmuth is sickening to watch with his incessant whining and complaining. He is a great player but I feel like more of his strategy relies on annoying the other players than actually playing great poker. If he's in a tournament, I can usually only stomach a few hands before I have to change the channel. Way too much crying. Not even a good retort can soften that! |
| Yup, he's a brat, but they give as good as he gives in this format. He still whines about how he has bad luck and everyone is a donkey, but all the other players just say the same thing, he's really a nice guy deep down.
Perhaps the same way as this riddle explains: Q: Why are puppy millers buried at 12 feet while everyone else is buried at 6 feet deep? A: Because deep down puppy millers are good people. |
