what we are wondring is, whats the breeds nature towards babies, or whats peoples experience with having a new born around a 10/11 month OES? also Alfie has a 'motherly streak' hes so gentle with his furry toys he carries them round and grooms them rather than ripping them apart like our mal does but gives his ropes some right grief. do all oes have this streak or do we just have a gentle one? |

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!
A FIRST BABY!!!! HOW EXCITING!!!!!! Pearl, my 9 year old sheepie has always been very gentle around kids....I have 4 grandbabies and they all love her to bits!!!!!!!! It may be a good idea to get a friend who has kids to come over and see the reaction... |
Congratulations to you both!!
My friend was preganant with her first baby when we got George. When she brings the baby over he is quite rough but only because he wants to see what it is making the noise. Once he has seen him he is fine. George likes to lick Harry(Baby) and I think George is fasinated there are little people! I would say in the first few days/weeks you would have to make sure Alfie wasn't too rough but they should be ok. There is a 2 year old lives next dog, when George sees her he races over to her but syops a few yards in front of her so he doesn't knock her over. She cuddles him and then they play together, they are good friends though I would never leave them alone together. Just make sure when you bring the baby home you still make a fuss of Alfie so he doesn't get jelous and hopefully things should be fine!! Good Luck and Congratulations!! |
Just wanted to say congrats on the baby. Obe has never been around babies so I have no advice their but just wishing congrats. he is fine around kids I know that. |

CONGRATULATIONS!!! |
Congrats!! That is so exciting My oes puppy destroys stuffies in SECONDS- literally. But then he's only 14 weeks old.
There are lots of members here who have children & sheepies, they will be able to give you good advice. I wouldn't leave any dog with a child unsupervised, even if I thought the dog was the most gentle in the world. |
