Rest in peace, JoJo, I will miss you
When I took her to the vet on Monday her kidneys were failing again. Made the decision to try to diurese her again. After 48 hours her kidney were still failing. My vet, god love her, took her home with her so she wouldn't have to spend another night in the hospital. She hated it, cried and barked until they loaded her up with valium. I picked her up from my vet's home and took her home. I got to take her to the park one last time last night. All the people who love her were there to pet her and give her lots of attention. This morning she would not eat or drink. Had not eaten or drank since Tuesday. She was disoriented and wobbly on her feet, but still tried to follow me around. Her eyes were dull and I knew she was miserable, so I took her in. The vet had me take Bella with me so she would understand why JoJo was not coming home. She crossed the bridge about noon. I miss her. Goodbye my sweet JoJo. I hope you are playing with Jazz and Max at the bridge. I will always miss you. Rest in peace my sweet girl. Mary |

I have to tell you about the experience of taking Bella with me. I would never have thought of it had my vet not advised me, but since she was so distraught on Monday and Tuesday when JoJo was in the hospital, I decided to take her advice. They were so kind at my vet's office. They put a thick, warm "princess" blanket down on the floor and dimmed the lights in the office. The brought in a tech to pet Bella while they administered the meds to JoJo. Bella sat quietly while I held JoJo and cried. Once the procedure was finished, the vet and tech left the room. Bella got up and circled JoJo, then went up to her, sniffed her, then licked her. Then she put her paw on her face. After a few minutes she looked up at me as if to say, "OK, mom. It's ok. It's time to to go now." She's not been anywhere nearly as distraught as she was Mon and Tues when JoJo was in the hospital. I think it really did give her closure, and it really helped me to have Bella there with me. I still tear up when I expect to see her laying in the bathroom waiting for me to get out of the shower. I miss her snoring. I miss her pawing me for pets and attention. I know I did the right thing at the right time. I am so grateful to my vet for advising me to bring Bella, as she seems to have adapted well. It's never easy to lose our precious sheepies. I didn't have her long enough. But I'm so grateful I had those last couple of days with her and that Bella understands why JoJo is not coming home. And I love this forum for all the love and support. Thank you. Mary |

| How awful those feeling are at home. I remember catching a glimpse of something on the floor and looking to see my dog -- oh, it was only a pillow. Or performng a "task" like opening the refrigerator and expecting to have a dog with me instantly -- no dog.
But it eases over time, it really does. |

Bella's such a beautiful name! I know what you mean about taking her to see Jojo. We did a similar thing with Hannah, we took her to Katrina's funeral. Funny, how before Katrina passed away, I really didn't believe so much in funerals, well it really helped with closure. They had her laid out and Hannah sniffed her and then Hannah was at peace. Because before that if we took Katrina out of the house without Hannah, Hannah would freak. It's funny the things we do that really help. I hope you find peace! |

My heart just broke reading your farewell to your beloved JoJo. Despite the heartbreak you must be feeling there must also be a sense of a bit of light. JoJo must have felt a sense of peace to have you and Bella close to her side. In retrospect you will look back and find comfort knowing you were there for her in the end. My farewell to Shaggy was very much like your good byes with JoJo ..and I've never regretted being there. With Oscar my beautiful kitty of 21 years, I carried him into the house and allowed all the animals to say goodbye..you are right it gives them closure too. I'm sorry for the pain you are going through at losing JoJo. How lucky she was to have shared her life with you and of course how lucky you were to have shared your life with her. | I have not been on the ORG for a while and just read your post.
I am so sorry about your loss, just having had BB put to sleep a week ago, I just know how you feel. During BB's last week my Sara C. was sleeping beside him every night and even during the day. They know!!!!! Even the cat cuddled up to him and she never slept with BB. Sheepie kisses |
