It's a dogs life. (she looks adorable happy snoozing sheepie) |
What a hard life! Digging in the yard all they then sleeping on a big, soft, warm and comfy sofa! Poor thing!
I think you should at least make her a hot dogcholate! (hot dog chocolate) Ps: I just realized you are in Natick! I did my internship there and I'm going to be there next weekend! When we are back to Boston in Feb. we should catch up! |
I have that problem in bed......I get up in the middle of the night and my spot is inhabited when I return. Lovely couch ornament.......you just know how tired she must have been. Makes me yearn for a nap myself. |
Kayla is a real cutie...especially the picture of her laid out on the flat on the floor----- |
No wonder she was so sleepy. Even without the yard work, being that cute must be exhausting. |
cute pic, The Nov 2 pic with your pup on the white blanket, is the blacket still there. With weather changing here all white is put away for now. |
She must be a Colts fan |
She's really cute! Mine do the exact same thing. |
What a cutie!!! |
I see a lot of Kayla's behavior (typical Sheepdog) in a lot of your photos as well. I swear I think she believes she is a house cat or something similar in size the way she tries to fit into spaces where there just in not enough room for her. Getting this dog has been the best thing I have done in a long while and even though she can be very difficult, the rewards of her good behavior make it worthwhile. Any one who is having trouble with there dogs as we have, just stick with it and keep working with them.
BTW, Kayla's work day consisted of chasing the leaves I was raking, attacking the wood rake handle, running scared from the piles as I was bringing them into the woods, lying down in the dirt garden beds, rolling and chasing a pumkin down the driveway, running around in crazy circles around the front yard, and basically supervising everything I did. I think your previous question and those of others recently (about the high energy, nipping, chasing the kids and general obnoxious behavior) should be answered by the results you see after a busy day. Most of these puppies just are not getting enough exercise. Not all, but most...... These are dogs that were bred to work and do a job. Granted, there are many who are happy couch potatoes.
I generally don't respond to these posts, as I tend to get on my soapbox, and I really HATE doing that! A balance of exercise, consistancy in training and plenty of mental activity is needed. I have never been bothered with all this nipping, scratching, jumping. It amazes me the number of people out there (and not just OES owners) that have no idea how to make their young dogs behave. I grew up raising, training, showing (obedience and breed), field trialing and just plain living with dogs. Everything I take for granted about dog behavior - and I need to realize there are lots of people who didn't grow up that way. Start out with the behaviors you are willing to live with. If it not something you want a 60-100 pound dog to do, don't let your cute little puppy do it. It is very unfair to your dog to change the rules in the middle of the game. At our house, no petting is ever done if 4 feet aren't on the floor. They learn really quick - in a positive way. I can honestly say that Chewie has never jumped up on a person - he never has needed to. He gets all the love and attention he could possibly need with 4 feet on the ground. He wiggles like crazy, but never jumps. Same thing about food on the counters. He or our other dogs don't jump on counters. They were never given the opportunity , and I also set them up for success. They honestly have no idea that they really could jump up and get the food. Human hands are never in the dog's mouth - except for cares (cleaning, teeth checks, etc.) They are smart - they learn the difference. None of them are mouthy or nippy. And half of them are breeds that are notoriously mouthy. If you are having trouble, find a knowledgable person - a friend, a trainer to help you out. You are not doing yourself , your family, or your dog any favors by letting the out of control behaviors continue. Sorry - off the soapbox now..... |
Well Jay, that tires me out too! Kayla had a very busy day! How much enjoyment did you get from her supervision......wasn't she entitled to a little nappy on the couch?? Honestly, very little gets done around here without sheepdog supervision. |
