Just wanted to get back in touch with everybody! We're back from our honeymoon- we went to Orlando, and did the theme park thing- Disney, Sea World, and Universal. Hurricane Jeanne delayed our departure by one day, so we missed out on our "water park" day... Ah well. It was just lovely though! For anyone who is planning on making a trip to disney, if you have the money. GO SEE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL! It was absolutely fabulous, and worth every penny that we spent! We're back home now (came back on Tuesday the 5th), and within 2 days I started Culinary Arts school! So I'm going to become chef Karen- any advice or support from fellow culinarians is greatly appreciated... (Those knife skills are killing me.) Then, my Aunt Nadine passed away from terminal liver cancer yesterday... She will be greatly missed. I guess when it rains, it pours, huh! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but I appreciate being able to talk to you guys! (I missed my sheepy friends the last 2 weeks!) Karen |

Sorry for your loss of Aunt Nadine. I can definitely appreciate the overwhelmed feeling... I get it about once a year. Fortunately it only lasts about 350 days.
Joan ran "back of the house"/operations for a few years and for a few different places. Its a lot of work... enjoy the cooking! Many many years ago she emplyed me for Sunday Brunches as a line cook -- it was hard to find people who wanted THAT job! So way back then she was my boss one day a week. I liked it so much that I promoted her to be my boss 7 days a week via marriage. WHAT was I thinking!?! I fondly remember carving London Broil until my arm fell off. Having the skill to sharpen the knife with the steel would have made my life a lot easier. Just remember: a sharp knife is your friend, but keep your fingertips down anyway. |
Thanks for your sentiments Ron, I really apprecitae the support.
As for the cooking, I'm getting the hang of my honing skills. The individual cuts are a little slow coming though... maybe I shouldn't have relied so much on my food processor quite so much... Karen |
Sorry about the loss of your Aunt....
Boy do I ever understand overwhelmed!!! Hang in there... things will settle... or so I'm told! |
HI KAREN!
I have been looking for you lately. I am so sorry about your Aunt. Her suffering is over and she is in a better place. I hope you and your family find peace soon. Your honeymoon sounds like heaven! You should see my van, there is Mickey Mouse all over it. We are actually saving up to go to orlando. The kids are ready and I have been ready for a long time. CONGRATS on cullinary school. A highschool friend went into that, but I lost touch after I had children....funny how that happens. Good luck with your fingers. LOL Stormi and co. |
