Random Wednesday Stuff

Well, I woke up at 4 this morning and decided to make cinnamon rolls w/lots of icing. Ate 4 with hot chocolate and lots of marshmallows. I'm so going to have gestational diabetes. Then took Yuksters outside and what do you know... first real snowfall. The big city has already had some, but not us... :yay:

Lastly, I got on the scale and I'm up 20lbs. I'm going to need someone to roll me out of bed soon.

...and random update on lil J: took him for a speech and autism evaluation (some tests), and the person evaluating felt he could be somewhere on the spectrum (lower end) due to several things he did out of the ordinary. I felt it was a positive appt overall. But, she said she's not the expert and we'll have to wait for the doctor to actually say. Getting an appt with him has been a long process, but hopefully will come next. She said he's so borderline, it's really hard to say. Today yet another person comes to evaluate him. I think J thinks it's fun to do all these tests. :)

I'm glad you are feeling ok about Lil J's tests. That sounds like it could be very stressful, but you have a great attitude! :go:

Cinnamon rolls AND hot chocolate? 8O Oh my. This kid must be going to have SOME sweet tooth!

The snow is so pretty this AM. Wow...my yard even looks clean now!
Mmmm, you wanna come over and make me some cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate? Not at 4am, but any other time would be fine.

I second Laurel...glad you sound positive with lil J's appt so far.
Nice start to a day - cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate & snow. :P

Glad you're making progress on Lil J's tests. :)
Cinnamon rolls AND HOT CHOCOLATE 8O 8O Oh you are a lucky woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keeping fingers crossed for Lil J. Why is it that Autism is so common these days???
Well, the appt today just ended. He is definitely delayed ............a lot. They come over again Nov 1st to go over the results, but she went over a little of what she observed today.

Speech - he's scoring at like 3 months :(
And he has lots of sensory issues (being touched, things touching him, toothbrushing, lights, etc) - scoring at like 6 months

It was too much data to process/memorize, but her report on the 1st will be written and go over things in detail.
BTW Barney, is your dog saying Pffffffft!! in the pictures? That's the impression I get.

lol, that's the impression I get too!

Actually, it's weird. He's been sitting that way at night for the last few nights, just staring off into the rest of the house, huffing every few minutes. Weirdo.

I'm glad you're starting to get answers about lil J. Because once you know what you're dealing with, you can start to work on things.
Best of luck on Lil J's test
Sorry to hear about Lil J's results, BUT no sense hiding your head in the sand, right? The sooner you find out the whole results, the sooner you can come up with a plan. Good luck!

You can come here (even at 4am ) and make those cinnamon rolls too. I have hot chocolate.
Mrs J, I am so happy Lil J got those evaluations.

I totally agree with Dawn. Now you will be able to get Lil J the extra help he needs. I feel Ryan's early intervention benefitted him tremendously.
I am sure it will do wonders for Lil J. :)

Cinnamon Rolls sound good!! :P
Hang in there Jo, it is good that you are getting some answers on Lil J's development.

By the way all this talk about cinnamon rolls needs to STOP NOW! I have such slim control on my willpower as it is.
Someone I was speaking with today reminded me that their mother was told that they (the person) were "retarded" because they didn't speak until the age of two.

This person is pretty bright and holds a 4 year degree from a prestigious Boston area university.
I'm glad you're getting some answers on Lil J's development, too. Early intervention does make a world of difference. Once you know what you're dealing with, you can work with the experts on a plan of action.

My eight-year-old nephew is also on the spectrum. He was diagnosed at age 2 and was "borderline" too. He is now fully integrated into a regular 3rd grade class room. Although his reading level is well below average, the rest of his scores are at grade level. He didn't talk until he was three.

I know it's a lot to process and can seem overwhelming. But, you're on the right track. :)
Youve got a great attitude! Trust me, it will help you tremendously!!

4 rolls??????? at 4 am?????? crazy girl.......

E is right, the earlier the better!!

hugs to lil sweet j!!
