Photo Shoot Help

This sunday, my husband, myself and Twiggy are going to a park and getting a family photo taken together. We are going to use the pictures for Christmas cards :)

Problem is, I"m worried to death that Twiggy is not going to cooperate. The photographer says she's handled pets before and not to worry.

I was wondering if anyone had similiar photos taken of their dog and had any tips?

How fun. Can't wait to see the pictures!

I don't have any tips, although I'm sure others will. Max is a perfect boy - until it comes to picture time. He WILL NOT look at the camera. Doesn't romp- move- growl- nip- bite - just refuses to look that way. It takes sheer patience to work with him. Glad my brother is a professional photograher (that never snaps shots at family gatherings    )

Anyone else would send us on our way.

Good luck!
just go with it....you never know what youre going to get...thats kinda the fun part.....and dont worry, if its not the dog acting up, you or your husband will be blinking
I was just trying to catch what I thought would be a cute pic of both the dogs laying beside each other, basking in the sun. I gave a little whistle to get them to look at me, and as soon as each saw what I was doing, they turned and looked away. I swear they do it on purpose!

Professional photographers, on the other hand, have tricks, so don't worry! Just look at all the portraits we have here and how fabulous they turn out. It'll be great! Can't wait to see the pictures!
A tip that ALWAYS works for us. We just sit on our dog (legs over). Problem solved. Dog can't go anywhere. We take the picture w/everyone sitting down. :)
Last Friday we went to Target to have hubby, Violet, China and my pic taken. They both did great and we even caught China smiling. Just let the photographer do their job. I'll try to post the pics when we get them 1 Nov.

Good luck!
I'm sure it will turn out great.
I did our family photo last year.
It was almost impossible to get everyone to look towards the camera when nobody was standing there. I had so many outtakes, but they were hilarious. Next time I am having someone else take the picture. That self-timer and running and posing thing just doesn't work well for us.
I can't remember how old Twiggy is - but I am thinking she is young?
If she tends to be antsy and fidgety, take her for a walk (or run if she can stay clean :D ) before the picture. The outdoor park sounds like a beautiful setting, and I'm sure you will get some really great pictures. Have her try some black and whites too - OES look nice in them!
Twiggy is about 10-11 months old. I'm not sure of her exact Birthday. We got her Jan 20th but are deciding on Thanksgiving to celebrate her birthday :P

She does pretty well when I take pictures of her at home but I"m just worried that being in a new place with new people, she'll be a handful :)
A nice cocktail of Bach's may help. A glass of wine or 2 for the up-right's
I am a pet photographer, and have done this scenario a million times. If the photographer is worth her/his weight in salt, there will be something on hand that makes a VERY CURIOUS sound that will make the dog look, and most likely cock his head...very cute. YOU just look at the photographer and let them "work" the dog. Good luck, and be sure to post pictures...
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I am going to bring a long a couple squeaky toys just in case and she will defintely get a nice long walk in the morning before we head out for our photo shoot :)

I know she'll give them a fierce look or two :)
I just wanted to say that Twiggy's photo shoot went beautifully! The photographer said she was very alert and one of the better dogs she has gotten the chance to work with. We'll have proofs in about a week that I will share :)
:clappurple: Great! I look forward to seeing the pictures.
Good to hear that things went good with you! I was thinking about you yesterday because we decided to go down to Navy Pier and ask somebody to take a picture of us for our Xmas card (Chicago in the background).

We were so lucky a couple came over and they took a lot of pictures of us, making kissy noises to the dogs and clapping their hands to get their attention! Boni even tilted his head a couple of times. I love our pictures and I can't wait to see it on the card.

That's so cool! It's not often you run across someone who "gets it" when it comes to taking pictures of you & your dogs. :D
We actually told him we want him to take our Christmas picture next year too. :D They were great, both of them. The woman kept telling me to fix my hair, look this way, do this, do that. They were working hard!
