I'm okay. Luckily no fires that are very close. (knock on wood)
My Sister in Law is in the process of moving to her new house in the mountains and is for the most part living there. Her town which is right near Lake Arrowhead is under voluntary evacuations. There are currently 3 fires burning up there. The air conditions suck there, so they came down to their other house. The other house (the Kennel) is for sale and was supposed to close on the 20th, but didn't. Good thing they had a place to go. Unfortunately due to the crazy winds they've been having in that area the entire inside of the house was dusted with sand, so they were cleaning when I talked to my niece earlier. My friend Larry is near the beach and another one of the fires. He said he's been on firewatch all day. My parents and sister are getting a lot of smoke, ashes and wind. Really scary!!! I can't believe how many fires there are! |
I have been watching the news with a heavy heart. The fires are devastating and affecting so many. Lets hope those fierce winds stop blowing and they are able to put them out. My thoughts are with those people and their families.

It really is scary. A lot of my friends have been evacuated from their homes and just based on reading the news reports, their neighborhoods are right in the thick of it.
The sad thing is that if this fire had happened 10-15 years ago, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. Because So many people moved to CA, and prices near the coast are so high, they started building their homes in these wildfire-prone areas. These areas have always caught fire--the difference now is that they are HEAVILY populated, whereas even 10 years ago it was much less populated. |
One of my clients is in San Diego. Some people in their office have been evacuated from their homes and are staying with friends. Very devastating how many fires there are. Weather conditions are really escalating things too. Very sad to see so many people losing their homes. |
It's been on the news here for the last few days, absolutely terrifying, the evacuation of so many from their homes as well.
Hope everyone is safe and sound, 2 deaths so far a lots of homes gone, really sad for all caught up in these fire storms. Been there last summer here and we are praying for everyone and hoping the weather turns to rain to help. That was the only thing that eventually stopped our fire storms over most of Victoria last summer. Stay safe E and family, hope your parents are going to be OK too, amazing how far the smoke and ash can fall & drift ahead of the fire fronts with the strong winds. Melbourne was blanketed in smoke for a month. Everyday you went outside you thought I hope those fires are miles and miles away. |
Hoping everyone stays safe and that the fires can be brought under control |
My husband's parents lost all the trees and pasture on three sides of their house as well as the deck and patio furnature in North San Diego country (the Pauma Indian reservation). All but two horses were saved by the fire crews together with their two Old English and one Shepherd.
A very big thank you to the Lake County (Northern California) Fire Department whose ten volunteers saved a good portion of my in-laws' ranch. A fire watch is on 24/7 for flare-ups and the always popular burning embers. Please keep them in your thoughts. Thank you. |
Oh my, they are certainly in our thoughts and prayers. What a close call they had, thank goodness for the fire department, those people are truly heroes and saviours to so many when these type of disasters happen. |
