Max is getting friskier too... wanting to run and play and jump more in the crisp fall air. I know I am an overprotective Mom now- but- I just want to send a gentle reminder of how easily they can get hurt in the snow. If you remember, Max was running very fast in snow that had a icy layer- tripped/ slipped and ruptured 3 discs. Never thought him having so much fun in that snow would result in months and months of recovery. I have grown to love all of your pups as I read this forum, and I hope someone else will benefit from our carelessness in not keeping Max safer. With that said - Don't ya love sheepies in the fall running through the leaves... Nothing cuter |

I do remember reading that post. Glad to hear he has made a full recovery. The only problem is they are dogs, hyper dogs at that. They will run and play and there is not much we can do about it. I understand and appreciate your concern. But...there always is, my ex-girlfriends lab tore his ACL this summer playing fetch on flat ground. I mean if you tell a lab he cant play fetch he will look at you like you are crazy. That is what they do. I do try and protect Obe as much as possible and like I said I appreciate you bringing the subject up. Thanks again. Please don't take this post the wrong way. |
I do get a little nervous watching them sometimes...especially after reading about accidents like Max's!
One change I have made at our house, is to put old rubber backed rugs (we have LOTS of them) out one the deck to reduce the slipperiness there. Out in the yard though, I agree with Shon....there's just not much to do to slow them down I know exactly what you mean about finding yourself loving the other dogs on this forum. My heart just falls into my stomach every time I see a new posting in the Rainbow Bridge section, and the medical section often scares me too If these dogs only knew how world famous and beloved they all are! |
