My iPod was stolen!

BOOOO.

I'm so mad. I usually take my iPod home with me after work but I got lazy and complacent and just left it in my top drawer (out of sight!) in my office desk last night. I went to grab it to plug it in this morning and it was GONE.

And my work is a very nice, very safe place to work, so it doesn't seem like this type of thing would happen here. But when I reported it I was told that there's been a bunch of hand lotions that have been stolen off of people's desks lately...

There is no such thing as a safe place......trust nobody.

I'm sure you are thrilled to know people are going thru your desk when you are away.........from coworkers to cleaning people........consider them all potential thieves.

I'm sorry.
Look for someone with luxuriously soft supple hands. :) That will be your culprit. I'm thinking female as most guys aren't into hand lotion. Unless the dude has a female hand lotion fetish. :lmt:
Oh that is so infuriating and frustrating, and makes you feel violated.

   GRRRR!

Set a trap; leave another one there, but put in a security cam above, or better yet, radioactive powder all over it.

But seriously, that black light powder stuff would be interesting!

Yeeesh.... what kind of person commits serial hand-lotion theft?? 8O CREEPY!

Seriously, though, what a bummer.... :( Sorry, Steph!

Sorry about your iPod, Steph. :(
Our Lawnmower was stolen out of our yard a few weeks ago
Of course it was not even a year old and was not cheap. I am still blown away that nobody noticed an idiot on a bicycle towing a lawnmower and didn't find it odd. (We saw bicycle marks on the lawn and know exactly who did it.) It was the crackhead that used to live down the street....seems he's come back to his old neighborhood to try to support his habit. I guess his money from selling his house two years ago must have run out.

The good news is I put an ad on Craigslist explaining our mower was stolen and we needed one badly.... and we got a response. A woman gave us a 20 yr old Craftsman mower. It runs, but needs quite a bit of work and a catch bag. I guess we'll hang onto it until we can afford a new mower because we refuse to put a lot of money into something that is not worth it. But thanks to this woman we at least were able to cut the lawn and get it ready for scapling.
I'd bet the cleaning crew has some new staff. If nothing else has changed there...I would guess that is where it went. I like Ron's idea about the hidden camera!

For a while last year, I had my studio space in a "bad" part of Anchorage, or at any rate a poor part....and was startled at first to look out my window and see people out "walking" their vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, etc... 8O :? Then someone explained to me that theses folks were on their way to the nearby pawn shop!
Oooooooooooh, that's horrible!! While I agree there is no safe place, you would think you have a safe place at your desk from trusting the integrity of your co-workers and the cleaning crew. I'm sowry :(
Oh how frustrating! I can imagine how upset you must be - especially from where it was stolen.

Sorry to hear that happened to you.

 That really SUCKS!!!

That really sucks! I hope whoever did it gets caught!

Our desks at work all have locks and they give us keys if we want to use them. Do you have that option? It's really sad that even our workplaces are safe. :(
Yeah, I thought about the sting operation idea. I have an old cell phone that I thought might be a nice 'steal' but I don't really have a video camera or anything and with my luck they would see the video camera and steal it!

Most of the desks at my work have that little key for the drawer. I just moved desks this past week and this one, of course, doesn't have a key and lock. :x So they put in a lock on my actual office door, which is nice and all, but that means that I can't have my office cleaned if I choose to lock it. I don't have anything else of value here, but it's just the thought of people rumaging...Stealing my desk candy is bad enough! I'd leave for the day with a full bowl and come in in the morning with it half empty
Stealing ANYTHING is stealing, candy or ipod  I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I am a cleaner, have been for the last 4 years and would NEVER steal anything. Although I have accidently taken other peoples dusters, but I always replace them with a clean one the next week lol In fact, when I started it felt really wierd just being in someone else's house and touching their stuff

Hmmmmm....so Steph.....just how mean are you willing to be? I'm SURE there must be something "not so tasty" that could be substituted in that bowel.

Well, they ARE tootsie rolls, so I think I could find something that looks like them pretty easily around my house

   Whoops! :sidestep:

That really bites, Steph. You'd think you could feel relatively safe in your own office.
That's a real bummer. If you're like me, your iPod was about to be surgically attached.

I bet you miss it... But then, you have an excuse to get one of the new aluminum ones!
